When it finally sank in, Hazel let out a shocked cry. “My goodness… I’m not dreaming, am I? Mom, Dad, you really got younger! Your skin’s even smoother than mine, and your hair… it’s all black again…”

If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, she never would have believed it.

Her parents had truly reversed their age. Her father looked striking and refined, her mother breathtakingly beautiful.

Standing beside Hazel, they looked less like parents and more like siblings. And that wasn’t just an exaggeration- it was the truth. No one would have guessed they were mother and daughter.

Hazel stared, completely transfixed. She needed to know why.

But neither Stefan nor Cynthia seemed eager to explain. Their reactions were cold, distant.

Especially when Stefan thought about how the Leightons wanted to marry Roxanne off to Evan, irritation surged in his chest. On top of that, the energy drug could cure Zeke’s illness. The thought alone made him want to needle his daughter.

“It’s nothing,” he said flatly. “We just took the energy drug.”

“What? Energy drug?”

The smile vanished from Hazel’s face at once. A storm rose inside her. The energy drug was exactly what Zeke needed right now.

She rushed up to Stefan, her voice trembling with disbelief. “Dad, are you joking? When did we ever have the energy drug in our possession?” Her tone was full of suspicion, but also barely restrained excitement.

‘If we had the energy drug, I could have given it to Zeke. Would I have needed to exhaust myself begging Evan for blood transfusions? This could have solved everything at the root. Zeke’s illness could have been cured once and for all. But if we had it… why have I never heard a single word about it?’

The moment they saw the change in Hazel’s expression, how could Stefan and Cynthia not know what she was thinking?

It was obvious that she was thinking about Zeke again.

Thaddeus had been right to warn them. And Evan had insisted they take the pills before leaving-he had to have predicted this too. He knew Hazel too well.

Their expressions grew even colder, tinged with disgust.

Stefan narrowed his eyes slightly. “So you’ve heard of the energy drug?”

The mix of surprise and mockery in his voice made Hazel’s expression stiffen.

Under normal circumstances, someone outside the medical field like her should never have known about the energy drug. She should have been just as clueless as her parents had been.

But because of Zeke’s illness, she had searched everywhere for solutions. That was how she learned the energy drug could cure him.

And that only proved one thing-anything related to Zeke, she treated as the most important thing in the world.

That was exactly what her parents despised most. The favoritism.

If even a tenth of that devotion had been given to Evan, their marriage would never have ended in divorce.

At that thought, Stefan and Cynthia’s dissatisfaction deepened even further.

“Fine, whatever,” Hazel said quickly, her voice urgent, completely oblivious to how much angrier they were becoming. “Dad, Mom, do we have any more of the energy drug?”

“No. There were only two. We took both.”

Stefan’s answer hit her like a bolt of lightning. Hazel froze, her heart sinking instantly.

The medicine that could have cured Zeke was gone, just like that. It felt like hope had been right within reach, only for her to watch it vanish before her eyes.

Her emotions collapsed immediately.

Looking at her parents-now so much younger-Hazel felt her mind going blank.

Suddenly, she shouted at them, her voice filled with anger. “How could you do this? Something this important, and you didn’t even tell me? You didn’t discuss it with me at all-you just took it yourselves? Do you even see me as your daughter?”

Her words stunned Stefan and Cynthia for a second. Then, they both exploded. “It belonged to us in the first place. Why would we need to tell you?”
