Chapter 281 Prepared

The Leightons had finished their preparations. So, they would marry Roxanne off once it was time.

Roxanne, however, was about to have a meltdown. After all, she was only here for the life-saving drug. Thus, she’d been elated when her grandfather asked her to stay until the wedding. Alas, three days had gone by, and s still found no signs of the life-saving drug.

She’d searched everywhere, including the family’s vault, every room’s safe, and even her grandfather’s bedroo Nothing.

“How could this be…” Roxanne felt herself going mad. She’d scanned every single square inch of the estate and searched every single possible place the drug could be. She even marked every spot she’d searched just to make sure she missed nothing, yet she found no sign of the drug.

She wondered, ‘Where did Grandpa hide it?’

Roxanne knew Thaddeus was still on guard when it came to her, even when he didn’t say it out loud. Her actions three years ago warranted that much wariness from him. Still, she figured that she should’ve found the drug by now, no matter how hard he’d hidden it away.

Sadly, reality gave her a harsh wake-up call. To make matters worse, there was nothing she could do. The wedding day was looming ever closer, and Roxanne couldn’t be more panicked. Nevertheless, this wasn’t the tim for a freak out. If anything, she had to stay calm.

Roxanne took deep breaths and forced herself to keep her cool. “I must’ve missed a spot.” Then, she resumed her search. “If I were Grandpa, I’d hide the drug in…”

She tried to put herself in Thaddeus’ shoes. Where would she hide it if she were him? What would Thaddeus do to keep her out?

Unbeknownst to Roxanne, the whole house was rigged with hidden cameras, and they captured her every move in

4K.

Thaddeus, Wendy, and the Leightons’ core members were watching the show. That’d been their sole job for the last three days. They saw how Roxanne scoured the whole place for the non-existent drug like the thieving rat she

was.

Things played out just as they’d predicted. The moment Roxanne found out no one was keeping an eye on her, she started her thievery.

“It’s a good thing you told me to stash the drug in Blackcrest, Grandpa. Look at her, looking for something that isn’t there! You’re brilliant!”

They were amused by Roxanne’s frustration after her repeated failed attempts. Wendy even gave Thaddeus a thumbs-up.

Thaddeus sneered. “I know her, like the back of my hand.”

The Leightons shared his scorn. “That ungrateful wretch. She’d stolen from us three years ago, and now she’s doing it again. She’d still be homeless if Grandpa hadn’t taken her in out of pity.”

“Yeah. She might’ve gotten away with her theft again if we hadn’t stashed the drug away.”

Everyone was mocking Roxanne. Yes, she was the source of the hilarity, but they were also incensed at her.

Thaddeus cut to the core of Roxanne’s plan. “It’s all because of Zeke. She’s ditching her own family for that guy. I

can’t understand what she sees in him!”

The Leightons used to despise Evan, but they promptly danced to a different tune once the truth was out.

Now, they had aimed their hatred right at Zeke.

“Regardless, there’s nothing to worry about anymore. She’ll marry Evan soon enough. Then, she’ll bring great fortune for the family!”
