Chapter 303 A Dangerous Choice
“Do you have any other way to bring Zeke back to normal?”
Hazel pressed the question, as if she had already seen through Roxanne and Anya’s unease and hesitation.
Neither of them answered.
A suffocating silence settled over the villa. The only sound was the steady tick of the clock on the wall, each second stretching the tension tighter.
By now, they were certain that Zeke’s drastic change wasn’t random. It was their fault.
They had failed him again and again, disappointing him time after time. And worse, Zeke was dying.
Something inside a person would twist and snap when they sensed their end approaching. Some gave up completely. Others changed beyond recognition. There were always signs.
They couldn’t bear to watch the once-perfect Zeke become like this. And they couldn’t ignore their own mistakes.
That was why they had thought of a desperate plan-letting Evan “die.”
In truth, they should’ve done this long ago. They should’ve done it long before Cain even came to Silverton. However, Evan had proven his innocence, so they held it off.
Later, they considered it again as a worst-case scenario for the divorce. But Stefan stepped in, firmly declaring that Evan would still be part of the Solberg family even after a divorce. So, the plan was shelved once more.
To be exact, this fake death certificate had always been Hazel’s trump card. This was something she could use in any dire situation.
And now, they all had the same uneasy feeling. This was the moment it was meant for.
“Besides fixing Zeke… don’t you want Evan back?”
Hazel’s voice cut through the silence again, sharp and piercing-like a question aimed straight at their souls.
Anya didn’t react much, but Roxanne fell silent.
They both noticed then that Hazel’s eyes had turned red.
Her emotions were surging, barely contained.
The outcomes of Hazel’s divorce, or Roxanne getting engaged only to have it called off, had seemed favorable to them on the surface. Some might even claim that they were the desirable outcomes.
But all they felt was unbearable pain once this “desirable outcome” had fallen into their laps.
That was when they realized they had been too naive.
They had weighed everything with logic and reason, completely ignoring emotion. And emotion was the hardest thing in the world to control.
Hazel was already beginning to understand. Roxanne was starting to feel it too.
It didn’t matter whether they admitted it. It was a fact that they couldn’t live without Evan. He had to stay by their
side.
They didn’t care that he’d be an unwilling prisoner. All they knew was that having him around brought them

peace.
That was Evan’s power.
And this fake death certificate could ensure he stayed with them forever.
Once he was “dead,” his name would be removed from the system as his identity would be wiped from official records. Once that happened, he would no longer be able to exist in the open.
He would have no choice but to always stay by their side.
Roxanne and Anya’s breathing grew uneven. They had to admit that Hazel had gotten to them.
This fake death plan was like Pandora’s box. It was dangerous, yet irresistibly tempting.
“Who’s talking about me?”
Evan suddenly felt his ears burn hot on his way to the private sanatorium.
This always happened whenever someone was scheming against him.
But it passed quickly, so he didn’t think much of it.
Today was the day he was supposed to treat Gaius. Yet, he couldn’t help but feel dumbstruck when he arrived.
