Roxanne pointed at the photos from the scene as she analyzed them. With her medical background, she could recognize details on the bodies that others couldn’t. “And judging by the fact that everyone around Gabriel was wiped out too, it’s obvious the killers meant to leave no loose ends.”
The deeper their analysis went, the more Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya felt Gabriel’s death was wrapped in layers of
mystery.
But Zeke’s eyes flickered-he had already thought of someone.
He immediately went to the organization’s base in Silverton, and sure enough, he found Nightingale and the
others there.
“It was you guys, wasn’t it?” he asked bluntly.
“Yes. A new mission from the organization. Don’t ask questions,” Nightingale replied coldly.
Behind her, Specter, Butcher, and Predator continued with their own tasks as if nothing had happened. None of them even looked up, as though killing Gabriel had been nothing more than a trivial job.
Zeke was so shocked he couldn’t speak. If the last time had filled him with joy and excitement over the possibility of recovery, then what he was feeling now was pure terror at the sight of true power.
With power, the rules of the world would bend.
They changed for you.
They served you.
People revered you. Feared you.
Looking at Nightingale and the others, a single word surfaced in Zeke’s mind: Gods.
Weren’t they gods, if they could decide who lived and who died?
Excitement surged within him, then thrill followed close behind. Zeke’s desire for power grew stronger than ever. He couldn’t help but imagine what it would look like when he finally obtained that kind of power himself.
Their present… would be his future.
The news of Gabriel’s death continued to spread. No matter how hard people tried to suppress it, more and more were finding out.
At the Solberg Residence, Stefan, Cynthia, and Neil were also discussing it.
“To think Gabriel died! This is good news… Evan is finally safe!” Cynthia said, unable to hide her relief.
But Stefan and Neil didn’t look optimistic at all. On the contrary, their expressions grew even more grave. “It’s the exact opposite. Gabriel’s death is only the beginning of disaster.”
After a brief pause, he continued, “There’s no way Mr. Solomon will let his son die in Silverton without getting answers. This won’t stay buried. He’ll most likely come to Silverton himself to handle it. Evan will definitely be taken in for questioning. We may not even be able to stay out of it.”
At once, everyone’s expression turned heavy.

Meanwhile, with the Norwoods, the situation was even worse-they were on the verge of collapse.
“Oh, my goodness! Gabriel is dead… they won’t think we did it, will they?”
Every member of the Norwood family stared in horror, their eyes wide with panic.
From their perspective, they had already been targeted for “settlement.” Evan had been spared only because the Solberg family had been protecting him, buying him time.
Now that Gabriel was dead, the Norwoods- already marked-naturally became a prime suspect. Worse still, Cain despised them. To him, Evan was also a Norwood, and ultimately, it would all still point back to them.
James suddenly went pale, his vision going black as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
The triplets were terrified out of their minds. Who could have imagined that even after being reduced to beggars, they would still end up suspected of murder? They had no connections left, and even if they had, they couldn’t have gotten within a mile of Gabriel.
