Chapter 43 Rumors Of A Great Doctor

“The Queen of Finance keeping a man, and that man being Evan? That’s impossible!‘

Sure, even someone as powerful as the Queen of Finance was still a woman, still human, still with needs. That much was nothing out of the ordinary.

But Anya simply couldn’t picture Evan having any connection at all to someone of Ivana’s stature. Their worlds weren’t merely different–they were literally worlds apart.

“Dad, are you sure you didn’t mishear?” Anya asked, her expression twisted with disbelief.

Graham shook his head. “No chance. That voice sounded exactly like Evan’s.”

Then, noticing Anya’s strange expression, he burst out laughing. “Oh, Anya, don’t tell me you actually thought the man hiding in the Queen of Finance’s house was Evan? You’re overthinking it! Countless people in the world sound alike! Didn’t you say Evan and Zeke sound extremely similar?”

“That’s true.” Anya relaxed immediately as she thought, ‘I’d overreacted. Hearing his name only startled m that’s all. Many share a voice. That’s nothing to be alarmed about. Evan’s voice is rich and magnetic the Zeke’s.‘

When she returned to her room, she passed the story on to Hazel and Roxanne. They were all stunned. Hazel, especially, nearly shrieked through the phone, “Anya! If your family is connected to Ms. Stanton now, can you get me an introduction? Just one meeting?”

It was her ultimate dream to meet the woman she idolized. One piece of advice from Ivana would be priceless.

“Please!” Hazel pleaded earnestly.

“I’ll have to ask my dad first,” Anya said.

“Ms. Solberg also wants to meet Ms. Stanton?” Graham frowned thoughtfully.

By all logic, he should decline. People of Ivana’s stature disliked being disturbed by irrelevant visitors. If he bragged about their encounter so openly, she might form a poor impression of him.

But the Solberg family had always been close to their family–turning them down flat would be difficult.

“Let’s do this,” Graham said. “Ms. Stanton didn’t invite me in before because someone was home. Next time I visit her, I’ll bring you along.”

He simply assumed Ivana hadn’t allowed him inside because there was a man in her house.

“Great! Thank you, Mr. Golden!” On the other end, Hazel all but vibrated with excitement.

Little did she know–if she used Evan’s connection, she could meet Ivana anytime she wanted. There was no need for such roundabout schemes.

“Oh, by the way,” Roxanne said suddenly while scrolling through her phone, “did you hear about what happened in Silverton? A miracle doctor brought the Iron Dragon of South Dominion back from death.”

Her words caught Zeke’s attention immediately. His eyes flickered sharply.

Hazel nodded quickly. “Of course I have. I was even wondering if we could get that doctor to treat Zeke.”
