Chapter 44 Shadows Closing In
In a secluded villa on the outskirts of Silverton, a man in a tailored suit stood alone, his presence cold, heavy, and oppressive.
“We found him. It was someone named Evan Norwood who saved the Iron Dragon,” his subordinate reported from behind him.
“Good. You may go.”
The instant the subordinate left, four figures in black emerged soundlessly behind him, as if they had materialized from thin air. They made no noise, their presence as frigid as carved ice.
“Kill Evan Norwood,” the suited man ordered calmly. “He cannot be allowed to continue treating the Iron Dragon,
—
They simply vanished in an instant, leaving behind nothing–not even a ripple in the air as if they had never existed at all.
Evan had no idea that danger was closing in with every passing second. At that moment, he was still at Ivana s home.
After a full day of cultivation, he had completely refined the medicinal power of the drakeblood root.
The improvement was tremendous.
He felt his physique strengthen, his vitality roaring through him like a surging river. Power coursed through every inch of him.
A spark of excitement flickered in his eyes. ‘And this is only the beginning! What happens when I master it? Hard to even imagine.‘
When his training ended, Evan planned to head out.
“What? You’re leaving already?” Ivana’s eyes dimmed a little when she realized he was leaving.
“It’s so late…” She glanced at the pitch–black sky outside, her reluctance obvious. “Why not stay the night and head out tomorrow?”
“I’ll pass.” Evan turned her down with an easy smile. “Your condition–and the Iron Dragon’s–will both need time before treatment can continue. Right now, it’s all about recovery.”
His physique had improved, but both his medical skills and metaphysics still needed time to settle and grow.
After walking Evan out of the villa, Ivana finally returned inside, still reluctant to see him go.
When she relayed his words to the Iron Dragon, the elder burst into hearty laughter and said to Victor and Aria, ” You heard him, didn’t you? Evan says he can treat me. Looks like this old man isn’t dying anytime soon!”
“Absolutely,” Aria said with a bright, sincere smile. “Mr. Norwood is a great benefactor to all Seven Dragon Units.” To the Seven Dragon Units, the Iron Dragon was a special figure. And Evan had dragged him back from death’s edge, making him a benefactor not just to them, but to the entire military of Draganland.
“That reminds me, Iron Dragon… Do you think you could speak to Mr. Norwood for us? Maybe let him serve as Dragon’s Breath’s-”

“Father! I’m so glad you’re okay!”
Before Aria could finish steering the conversation toward naming Evan as chief military physician of Dragon’s Breath, a booming, rugged voice echoed through the hall. Two towering figures strode in–broad–shouldered, imposing, radiating pressure like mountains bearing down.
The moment they appeared, Aria and Victor both stiffened. “Seth? T–Bone? What are you two doing here? Who’s guarding the South Dominion?”
