Chapter 47 A Power None Expected
“Bang!‘
‘Crack!‘
‘Crack!‘
Three of the black–clad assassins had their necks snapped in the blink of an eye. It was clean, efficient, and most importantly, a brutal display of power. In the end, only the leader remained standing. A cold tremor ran down his spine as he drew in a sharp breath.
Even Sylvie and the others, who were all watching from a short distance away, were stunned speechless. ‘What the fuck did we just witness?! Mr. Norwood, someone who supposedly needs our protection, had just snapped the necks of three top–tier assassins like it was nothing!”
Tyson and Seth were even more shocked as this was their first time meeting Evan. ‘Isn’t Mr. Norwood weak? Doesn’t he need protection? He just killed three elite assassins in seconds! Was that what weak actually meant around here? Is this really happening right now?‘
Yet, even Victor and Aria looked just as dumbfounded. ‘What the… Who the… What?!‘
Sylvie and Ivana could also only stare at the scene with wide, disbelieving eyes.
Evan was still unaware that the group had arrived, so he had his entire attention focused on his own hands. He stared at his palms, murmuring to himself, “To think the Ninefold Arcane Arts is so powerful. I only trained seriously for one day, and I’ve already leveled up so much…”
Then, his expression shifted. “No, wait… Have I become incredibly strong, or are they just that weak?”
In order to confirm his guess, he turned his gaze toward the only assassin still alive. The man instantly felt as though a venomous snake had fixed its fangs on him.
It was an ironic turn of events as he usually was the one staring others down as he crushed them with the knowledge of their imminent death. This was the first time someone else had made him feel like his victims.
“Don’t get cocky!”
He realized that if he wanted to survive, he had only one option–fight with everything he had.
“Die!” A lethal glint burst from his eyes as he charged at Evan.
People could unleash unimaginable strength once they were backed into a corner. Even Aria and Victor would have taken him seriously at that speed, but Evan merely lifted his hand and swatted. The assassin immediately veered off course.
That was because the man’s head was gone.
‘Whoosh!‘
At the same time, Aria faintly heard something slicing through the air at terrifying speed. As it drew closer, the sonic boom roared louder. It sounded as though there was an incoming artillery shell flying straight at them.
‘Boom!‘
A blurring something shot past them before slamming into the ground not far away, carving out a deep crater upon impact. As the dust settled, they could finally see what it really was–the assassin’s head.
ower None Expected
Evan had slapped his head clean off and sent it flying.
A long, pregnant silence seemed to stretch on forever.

Everyone had no idea what to think. None of them had expected Evan to be so powerful. They had rushed over in a panic, thinking he needed protection–only to discover they had entirely underestimated him.
Sylvie was so overwhelmed she nearly burst into tears of relief. If she hadn’t experienced it herself, she would never have imagined she would ever feel like this. She had first believed that Evan was doomed, only to find he wasn’t just safe but unbelievably impressive.
Ivana’s eyes sparkled with unhidden admiration. ‘Kiddo’s such a treasure. Not only is he an incredible doctor and skilled in metaphysics, but he’s also terrifyingly strong to boot?”
For the first time, she felt a sense of safety from a man younger than her. “Just how many surprises are you hiding from me, Evan?” she murmured under her breath.
“Mr. Norwood!” Aria and Victor hurried toward him, unable to hide their excitement.
