Chapter 56 A Woman Hazel Never Saw Coming
A hush instantly fell over the table. The entire table froze as everyone turned toward Hazel with strange, puzzled expressions.
Hazel herself was still stunned with her ladle hanging mid-air. She had no idea what to do upon this revelation.
Stefan and Cynthia, on the other hand, nearly passed out. ‘Unbelievable! Hazel is his wife. Yet, she doesn’t even know what her husband’s allergic to! We were hoping this dinner would help them warm back up to each other, but now? God, what a disaster!’
Cynthia quickly placed a piece of braised ribs into Evan’s plate. Then, she smacked her forehead and said, “It’s all my fault. I completely forgot you’re allergic to seafood. My

Evan smiled. “In that case, you should try the medicine Ibht, Mrs. Solberg. It’s very effective.”
Only then did everyone loosen up. One had to admit that Cynthia really was going all in order to patch things up

Sadly for her, Hazel had never really planned to use this dinner to reconcile with Evan. All she wanted was for him to keep donating blood.
“So, Evan, what have you been busy with lately? Is that why you arrived so late for the family dinner?” one of the relatives asked.
Hazel perked up at that question. Stefan and Cynthia both turned toward Evan as well. They desperately wanted to know how he’d been doing. Where was he staying? Was he doing okay? Any bit of information meant peace of mind.
“Oh, nothing much. A friend needed some help, so I made dinner for her,” Eyan said casually.
Hazel couldn’t help but scowl. She couldn’t stop herself from firing back, “A friend? Since when do you have friends? Is it a man or a woman? Do I know them?”
She, Roxanne, and Anya had been in complete control over his life for the past three years. She knew what he ate, where he went, and who he saw. So, what friends could he possibly have?
Even the ones he used to have were long gone. Evan had plenty of friends back when he was still the Norwood heir. However, they’d disappeared once he’d fallen from disgrace. Not a single one of them remained.
Evan shot Hazel a sideways glance. “A woman. You don’t know her.”
‘Boom!’
Hazel’s mind immediately went blank as her ears rang.
‘Evan… has a woman in his life? Since when? How did I not know? And they’re close enough for him to cook for her? So he was late because he was making dinner for another woman?’
Hazel’s composure cracked right then and there. Not even Evan’s sharp words or cold dismissiveness earlier had hurt this much. She couldn’t accept it. The man she believed had always loved her-her Evan-had actually met another woman.
It felt like something that belonged to her had been stolen. A mix of loss and fury burst through her.
She was about to explode.
