Chapter 61 The Healer’s Information
“It’s thanks to my dad. He didn’t find out who the doctor is, but he got news that Ivana is the Iron Dragon’s daughter. We can start by visiting Ivana!” Anya was practically jumping with joy.
“What? Ivana is the Iron Dragon’s daughter?”
Roxanne and Hazel inhaled sharply. The world claimed that Ivana started from nothing and got to the top without any help. That made her a legend, though now they knew she came from power.
Still, it made sense. A woman with no support or background could never dominate the financial world in just few years. There were barriers across different industries, and the big shots would never allow anyone to rise to prominence that easily. Business was war.
Hazel let out a sigh. “If Ivana really is the Iron Dragon’s daughter, the Stanton family must be impossibly powerful.”
Ivana’s father was the lynchpin of the South Dominion, while she herself dictated the flow of capital across the country. Together, they were an unstoppable combination.
With a smile, Anya added, “That’s not all. My dad told me the Iron Dragon’s most beloved granddaughter is in Silverton. If we can make a connection with either one, we’d make it big.”
Hazel was keen to make a move right away. “We should get some sleep and visit Ivana first thing in the morning.” For Hazel, this was perfect. Not only could she finally meet the woman she idolized, but she might also uncover the healer’s identity and save Zeke.
Evan didn’t know the ladies were scouring the land for him. It was already late at night when he came back to the villa. To his surprise, Sylvie had been waiting for him–asleep on the sofa, her head resting against the coffee table.
The remnants of the frost poison made her sleepy most of the time. Her bedtime was only the beginning of most people’s night life. Yet she hadn’t gone to bed. She had waited for him.
There was a lamp still turned on in the living room. No matter how late Evan was, she would wait for him, and that touched him.
He knew this feeling all too well. Once, he had been the one night, just because the women hadn’t returned.
forcing himself to stay awake night after
That place had once been his home. He never wanted to leave, but they pushed him too far.
The night was chilly. Evan grabbed a blanket and carefully draped it over Sylvie. She felt something and fussed a little, but she did not stir.
The memories held him there longer than he expected. He watched her sleep–quiet, graceful, like a pampered
cat.
However, she was frowning.
Maybe she had a bad dream, but eventually, that frown disappeared, replaced by a happy smile. Perhaps the dream had turned kinder.
“Good night,” Evan murmured. He turned off the lamp and went back to his room.

The next day, Ivana called him. “I need you to come over.”
Ever since she found out she was cursed with the Death Writ, even a logical woman like her was getting paranoia about everything, including her place’s luck. Whenever she fell asleep at night, it felt like she was thrown into a freezer, the cold clinging to her very bones.
