Chapter 60 Mysterious Healer
Roxanne spoke in a rush, but the silence that followed told her everything, Her eyes widened instantly “That bastard refused?”
Hazel shook her head. “I’ve shown him enough respect. I even held a family dinner just for him, and he still showed up late and disrespected me in my own house.” She briefly recounted what happened at dinner.
Roxanne slammed the table and cursed, “The bastard! Zeke’s life is at stake here, and he won’t ever help? Now what do we do?” She massaged her throbbing temples.
They couldn’t get Evan’s blood, and the mysterious donor remained elusive. This was the worst possible outcome.
Zeke started coughing again. He opened his hand-blood soaked his palm. Hazel and Roxanne rushed to his side How do you feel, Zeke?”
One of them patted his back, while the other grabbed meds and water. Zeke pushed it away. “That won’t work.” No one noticed the brief, chilling flash of bloodlust that crossed his eyes.
If Zeke were to die, he’d drag Evan down with him no matter what. Zeke looked at Hazel and Roxanne, forcing a bitter smile. “This is it for me, you two. It’s not Evan’s fault. He has every right to be mad. If I die, you guys will go back to how it was, right?”
Roxanne and Hazel started crying and shaking their heads. “You won’t die, Zeke. I won’t let you, even if it means I have to spend every last cent!”
Emotions swirled in Hazel’s eyes. She quietly said, “We can’t go back anymore.”
Everyone knew that. They only loved and cared about Evan because they thought Zeke would never come back. The moment he did, the relationship with Evan could never go back to how it was.
If he were to get back that love only to lose it again, it would destroy him.
“I’ll call Evan!” Roxanne grabbed her phone desperately. However, her call was blocked.
Evan had blocked every single heiress. Roxanne’s face twisted with fury. “Evan!” She wanted to skin him alive, but all she could do was vent her fury to the air.
In the end, she collapsed onto the edge of the bed, a sense of powerlessness creeping into their hearts.
Just when the two were out of ideas, Anya came running in, huffing and puffing. “Hazel, Roxanne, I have good news!”
Hazel handed her a glass of water right away. “Slow down, Anya. Talk.”
Anya chugged down the glass of water and let out a happy sigh. “I have news about the doctor who saved the Iron Dragon!”
“Really?”
