Chapter 95 Second-Stage Breakthrough
That life-saving drug was the Leightons’ most treasured heirloom. It had been crafted by a medical grandmaster from Imperia. No one ever dared to use it. Yet, Roxanne had stolen it and forced it between Evan’s lips.
Evan would never forget that night. He had been moments from death when a figure came stumbling toward him barefoot. He could still remember that she had even lost one of her heels while running for her life.
He had seen a swarm of vehicles chase her down. He could still remember the battle cries echoing through the streets. Yet, she still pushed a pill into his mouth.
After that, Roxanne vanished for three days. Rumor had it that the Leightons dragged her home and confined her to the family’s private oratory for three full days.
It had been touching back then. However, it only felt absurd after he knew the whole story.
“But it doesn’t matter anymore. Once I push the Ninefold Arcane Arts to the next stage, I’ll return that life-saving drug to you.”
Evan estimated the timeline. The debts he owed the Golden and Leighton families could likely be repaid before the divorce cooling-off period ended. It was perfect, really. This way, he could settle everything in one go.
Evan immediately began cultivating once he returned to Nine Courts.
“The hardest step in the Ninefold Arcane Arts is getting started. Once I pass that threshold, everything afterward will be smooth
sailing.”
He exhaled slowly as he glanced at the jadeite bottle nearby. He took out the lotus crown fruit and held it in his palm. A cool, refreshing sensation flowed through his body, quieting his mind and sharpening his senses.
Evan’s eyes burned with anticipation. “I can’t help but wonder just how much my medical skills and metaphysics would improve after my breakthrough.”
The Ninefold Arcane Arts encompassed all aspects, though martial advancement was the easiest. Medicine and geomancy were far more difficult to elevate.
He didn’t waste another second and began refining the fruit. Soon, a profound energy surged through his entire body.
‘This must be the lotus crown fruit’s medicinal power. It’s even stronger than the drakeblood root.’
Evan closed his eyes as a mysterious force wrapped around him. He relaxed, allowing himself to sink fully into the sensation.
Meanwhile, Sylvie was taking a shower on the second floor of the villa. Water from the natural hot spring rained over her, the temperature rising quickly until a hazy mist filled the room. Hence, Sylvie’s silhouette was faintly visible and yet not at all concealed.
She stared at her reflection and let out a frustrated sigh as her eyes slid down her flawless curves, taking note of her porcelain skin, her shapely bust, her slim waist, and her long legs. Frankly, she wasn’t sure why she was sighing. She only knew that she suddenly felt helpless.
‘My body is practically perfect, so why does Evan feel nothing at all? Isn’t living together supposed to bring people closer? Why hasn’t our relationship been making any progress?’
Sylvie simply couldn’t figure it out, no matter how hard she tried. This question was far too difficult for her current state of mind.
She didn’t even bother to towel off after getting out of the shower. Instead, she let the crystal-clear droplets slide down her long hair and fall onto her flushed, delicate skin.

‘Crack.’
The sounds of bones shifting could be heard from Evan’s room. A moment later, he snapped his eyes open as a sharp gleam flashed through them. As he drank in his surroundings, he quickly realized that his sight was now clearer.
