Chapter 97 The Donor Who Shouldn’t Exist
“What? You found him?!” Asya blurted in astonishment.
“Yes! After I posted the reward notice, someone contacted me and said he was the one who donated blood at the hospital that day!”
If Evan had been there, he would’ve been stunned. He was the actual donor. Hence, anyone else could only be an impostor.
Unfortunately, the girls didn’t know that. They genuinely thought the mysterious donor had been found. There was finally hope for Zeke’s survival.
Anya immediately rushed to the hospital to meet up with Hazel and Roxanne. “Who is he?”
Roxanne handed over the man’s information. That individual was a complete stranger. He also had demands, specifically that he wanted to be paid 750 thousand upfront before agreeing to donate.
“Can we trust him?” Anya frowned.
“He sent over a copy of his lab results. It should be genuine,” Hazel said. “Besides, Zeke’s condition is getting worse.”
The three of them turned toward Zeke. He was coughing nonstop, his body shivering as he lay on the bed. He wasn’t coughing up blood anymore, but his whole demeanor looked even worse than before.
“Alright…” Anya mumbled as she shoved her doubts aside. After all, the lab results were indeed a match.
Just then, Hazel recalled something and said, “We should check in with Ms. Stone about that formula just to be safe.”
“Okay, I’ll ask.” Roxanne immediately called Artemisia, who was currently tossing and turning, unable to sleep. After all, she was supposed to report to Evan as his apprentice the next day.
When she saw Roxanne’s name on the screen, she hesitated but eventually answered the call. “What’s up, Roxanne?”
“It’s nothing major. I just wanted to ask how the ancient formula is coming along on your end.”
Artemisia didn’t answer right away. Her expression shifted as she inquired, “Did you resolve the blood-type problem?”
She had made herself clear that day-the ancient formula could only stabilize Zeke’s condition. If they wanted to keep him alive, a blood transfusion was a must.
“It’s handled. We found the mysterious donor,” Roxanne said, unable to hide her excitement.
Artemisia shot upright in bed. “You found him? Are you sure?”
୮
“Yeah. It took a 750 thousand reward to smoke him out, but…” Roxanne trailed off, sounding somewhat shaken. “Thank goodness we did. Zeke was getting worse by the hour. I had no idea what we’d do otherwise.”
Meanwhile, Artemisia was stunned, her expression shifting as her thoughts ran a mile a minute. “They found a donor? That can’t be right. Mr. Norwood couldn’t have possibly donated his blood to them again.’
She had looked into everything and learned the truth-the mysterious donor was none other than Evan. Therefore, she also knew that that had been his last transfusion. Once he’d done that, he’d considered it as a done deal.
Now, there was nothing that would make him donate his blood again.
“Roxanne, are you sure you’re not being scammed?” Artemisia asked, her expression twisting.
“Scammed?” Roxanne didn’t take her question seriously. “Who would joke about something like this? Plus, he sent over his bloodwork. Everything’s in order!”
It seemed that she was afraid that Artemisia wouldn’t believe her, so she even forwarded the lab results. The blood type indeed matched Zeke’s. Yet, Artemisia was pretty certain Roxanne had been duped because she was aware that the donor had been
