Chapter 98 Instant Karma
Roxanne frowned as they headed toward the hospital.
“It’s probably because of that banquet,” Hazel and Anya reasoned. Roxanne thought about it carefully and found that there really was no other reason. Still, the Stone family banquet hadn’t exactly been their fault.
They arrived at the hospital shortly after. The arrangement was simple. All they had to do was take the blood bags and pay afterward. Unfortunately, they didn’t see the so-called donor when they arrived. Instead, a nurse hurried over with a blood bag and a slip of paper.
She said this was the blood they needed, along with the bank account the donor wanted the money wired to. The nurse explained that the donor didn’t want any unnecessary contact with them.
The nurse also said that the hospital had already tested the blood, and it was a match. Only then did the three heiresses finally relax and transfer the money.
Zeke’s face lit up when he heard it was the right blood type. As the transfusion began, his condition began to improve. The three of them finally let out the breath they’d been holding.
Judging from the initial results, the transfusion looked perfect on paper. So, Zeke finally relaxed, assured that he no longer needed Evan.
“By the way, have you still gotten no word from Evan?” Zeke casually asked once he felt a little better.
“Don’t even start.” Hazel shook her head, clearly annoyed. “He’s really pushing it lately. I can’t believe he walked away when people’s lives are on the line.”
She was still furious about Evan refusing to save Graham and refusing to donate blood to Zeke.
Zeke dropped the subject, but the shift in his demeanor was obvious. The gentle, elegant air he usually carried turned dark and brooding.
A flash of malice slipped through his eyes as he thought, ‘Evan Norwood, now that we’ve found a new donor… Well, you’re no longer needed. This is goodbye, forever.’
Once Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya left the room, Zeke made a phone call. “Do it. I want Evan Norwood dead by tonight.”
But the man on the other end immediately refused, “No can do. Not right now… not anytime soon.”
Zeke frowned at once. “Why not?”
The voice on the phone sounded spooked. “Things have been changing in Silverton’s underworld. Mr. Wells is already in trouble, and the Monk Duo has been taken out. Mr. Wells told all of us to lie low for now.”
Zeke hadn’t expected the killer he hired to be one of Hugo’s men.
“Seriously?” he muttered in disbelief, but his impatience quickly drowned out the surprise. “Do it anyway. Mylo, I’ll pay double.

People risked their lives for money. So, he knew everyone had a price.
Mylo caved when Zeke doubled the offer.
He was one of Hugo’s many adopted sons, but he was all brawn and no brains. So, he never amounted to much. Instead, he mostly spent his time chasing skirts rather than anything else.
As a result, he had ruined who knew-how-many innocent girls, using Hugo’s reputation to scare them into submission. Lately.. he’d even set his eyes on Artemisia, who had just returned to the country.
Mylo made the necessary arrangements after accepting Zeke’s commission. He even went out of his way to avoid his peers to

Zeke felt great for the first time in days, utterly convinced that Evan wouldn’t live to see the next sunrise. So, he made himself comfortable and patiently waited for Mylo’s good news. Alas, he felt a twinge of discomfort the next second.
He ignored it when it first began. Unfortunately, the unpleasant sensation grew stronger and stronger by the minute.
“Ugh!”
