Chapter 433 The Solution
Fine. Real fine. If I don’t straighten the three of you out today, I might as well change my name because I’m clearly not doing it justice.
Emma let her gaze drift over the two guys still trying to defend themselves on the ground, then over to Marcus, who looked so furious he could’ve burst into flames. She let out a soft laugh. “Heh.”
That laugh carried pure mockery. It cut through the air like a cold slap and shut Lucien and Calum up on the spot. Even Marcus, raging as he was, stiffened for a second.
All three of them turned to Emma at the same time.
She slowly lowered her arms from her chest. The smile was gone. Her expression had gone cold. “Done putting on a show?” She looked at them, and her tone was flat. “One of you got outmatched. One got cocky and ended up hurt. And one got played like a fool. What a performance. Really. Stunning work.”
Oh no! Emma is pissed.
Lucien felt his chest drop like a stone. “Emma, I—”
“Shut up.” Emma cut him off, stepping forward, towering over them. “I’ve got a question for you guys. This so–called primary mate spot of mine, is it some beast you can’t handle? Or just something too messy and sticky for you to deal with?”
Her gaze first locked on Lucien, sharp as a knife. “Lucien, if you don’t want it, just say so. Why drag it out like this? Why use a stupid little competition to shove Calum forward and think it’s funny?”
Then her eyes flicked to Calum. “And you, Calum. You’re part of the Marshal’s Empire, right? Decisive on the battlefield, ruthless even. But in private, you pull cheap tricks like some street hustler? Lucien schemes, and you just follow along, dragging Marcus into it too? What happened to your courage and integrity?”
Emma took a deep breath, trying to choke down her boiling anger. Her teeth clenched as she spat the words out. “No one wants to be the primary mate, huh? Fine.”
She scanned all three of them, each word slow and deliberate. “If this primary mate role is
get the spot. such a thorn in your side, if it scares you off that much… then forget it. You don’t And you don’t get to be my partner either.”
Her words hit like a lightning strike, entirely out of nowhere, right on top of Lucien, Calum,

and Marcus.
Boom.
It felt as though the world had collapsed on them. Lucien, who had been arguing his point, Calum, still trying to defend himself, and Marcus, fuming with anger, all froze in place. Their looks drained of color almost instantly, leaving a ghostly pale mask.
“Emma…?” Lucien’s voice shook so badly it barely sounded human. Terror and disbelief painted every line of his expression. He scrambled forward on shaky knees, trying to grab her sleeve, only to be pushed back by her icy glare. “Emma… I didn’t mean it like that… Emma, just let me explain—”
“Ms. Tibarn!” Calum panicked, the pain in his back disappearing like it never existed. His eyes widened, pupils pinpricks of fear. “Ms. Tibarn, I messed up. I shouldn’t have ducked out. Please, don’t leave me…”
Even Marcus, who had been seething moments ago, froze. His silver–gray eyes darkened with a storm of regret and panic. “Ms. Tibarn… I… I just didn’t want the primary mate role. I never said I didn’t want to be your partner.”
All three of them were spiraling, each more desperate and terrified than the last. The primary mate position might be hot and dangerous, but losing the chance to be her partner was a nightmare, far worse.
But Emma looked like she had already made up her mind. She didn’t even spare them another glance. The disappointment and chill in her eyes cut deep, stabbing straight into their hearts.
She turned to Silas, Edric, Kieran, and Drake. “Let’s go.”
No one said a word. They just hurried to follow her.
“Emma… don’t!”
“Ms. Tibarn… wait!”
“Ms. Tibarn…”
Lucien and Calum scrambled to their feet, almost knocking each other over, trying to chase her. But the moment they took a step, a wall of mental power shot up in front of them. This was Emma’s barrier. She didn’t want them coming any closer.
