Emma wrapped an arm around his waist, responding to his kiss.

She had assumed that Silas would refrain from doing anything now that she was pregnant.

So, she thought that this kiss was going to be a brief one.

However, she was quickly proven wrong.

Silas had no intention of stopping.

His kiss stole her breath, leaving her weak and lightheaded. Her mind was dazed as she helplessly clung to his shoulders.

The vine–covered wall sensed grew restless in tandem with its owner’s roiling emotions. The tender leaves gently whispered against her back, sending tingles of heat down her spine.

Emma instinctively pushed against Silas‘ chest.

“Silas… stop…” she mumbled against his lips as she shoved him away.

She lifted her eyes to look into his dark eyes as she reminded him breathlessly, “We can’t keep going. Remy is right here. We can’t set a bad example for him.”

Silas rested his forehead against hers, their noses brushing intimately as their unsteady breaths lingered against each other’s skin.

He lifted a hand and used his thumb to gently trace her now–kiss–swollen lips.

Then, he murmured huskily, “Remy is a deep sleeper. He won’t know a thing.”

His heated gaze swept over her, taking stock of her teary eyes, her parted lips, and her heaving chest before returning to her face.

“Emy, don’t be afraid. I’m not a monster. You’re pregnant, so I know exactly what I can and can’t do.”

Yet, the warmth of his breath against her sensitive skin made her shiver.

She immediately pushed his chest harder.

Silas let the moment go. Instead, he slid his arms under her and carried her in his arms.

“Shower now?”

“Yes.” She nodded. “You can carry me to the bathroom, but I’ll shower myself. You wait outside.”

If Silas helped her… she had a feeling that she might be spending the night in the bathroom.

He might not be able to do anything right now, but Emma knew Silas far too well to believe that he didn’t have some trick up his sleeve.

“Okay, but let me keep watch? You’re pregnant. I’m worried you’ll slip.”

Silas smiled as he carried her steadily toward the bathroom.

“I can do it myself,” Emma muttered huffily.

She’d been feeling much better ever since she transferred her morning sickness to Lucien. Aside from her wonky sleep levels, she felt no different than she did in pre–pregnancy.
