Chapter 705 A Very Spicy Lesson
It smelled amazing.
He had never smelled anything this good before.
When the beast meat finished roasting, Emma held it out to Jim. “I grilled this for you, so eat.”
Jim didn’t take it.
“What is it? Are you worried I poisoned it?”
He shook his head.
“The female eats first.”
Emma picked up a knife and cut off a small piece for herself. “This is enough for me.”
She had added too many chili peppers, so it was too spicy for her to eat much.
He looked at the tiny piece of beast meat on her plate and frowned slightly. She eats so little. No wonder she’s so thin.
“Hurry and eat!” Emma pushed the meat toward him again.
Jim finally took it. The strong, rich smell of the meat filled the air. He looked at Emma. Her face showed clear anticipation a bite.
The moment he bit into it, his usually calm puppy–like eyes widened instantly. His pale, cold face turned bright red at a spe visible to the naked eye. The redness spread all the way to his ears.
His whole body froze.
“Well? Is it good?”
Emma ate her small piece of mildly spicy meat while asking with a smile, even though she already knew the answer.
Jim struggled to swallow the bite. Then, he turned his head and looked at Emma with those round puppy–like eyes.
The next second, something happened.
With a loud splash, a huge spray of water burst up from the sea nearby.
He jumped straight into the ocean.
Emma froze. She quickly ran to the shore and looked down.
In the clear seawater, he was completely underwater. Only a small patch of hair on the top of his head was visible.
Emma stayed silent. So, the spice made him want water, but jumping into the ocean won’t help.
She called out from the shore. “That won’t help. Hurry and come back up.”
The person in the water gave no response and stayed underwater.

When she saw no reaction, Emma’s voice turned cold. She shouted toward the water, “Did you hear me? Get up here right now
One second passed. Then another.
After a long while, Jim slowly rose to the surface with his soaking wet head.
He raised his hand and wiped the water off his face. His face, which was usually expressionless, was now scrunched up tightly.
His lips were swollen from the spice. They looked like they had been stung by bees twice. They were red and shiny.
Jim came out of the water. However, he didn’t walk onto the shore right away. He stayed in the sea. Only his wet puppy–like eye were visible above the water.
Across the shimmering surface of the sea, he looked quietly at Emma.
There was no anger.
There was no blame.
He simply looked very wronged. His eyes seemed to say that he didn’t understand how she could treat him like this.
Emma had been about to laugh. When she saw that look, she suddenly felt a little guilty, like she had bullied an honest person.
She squatted by the shore and gave a half–hearted explanation. “Well… I didn’t know you can’t eat spicy food.”
Jim blinked. Water droplets still hung on his eyelashes.
He said nothing.
He silently lowered half of his head back into the water. Only his two eyes remained above the surface.
With his swollen, red lips, he looked both funny and pitiful.
Emma finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. She burst out laughing. “Just come up. I bought some iced fruit drinks earlier. Drink one and you’ll feel better.”
When he heard that, the head in the water moved.
Jim slowly walked out of the sea. Water dripped from his whole body.
Emma handed him a fruit drink beside her. “Drink this.”
Jim took it. He walked back to the place where he had been sitting earlier and sat down again. He didn’t care that his clothes were still dripping wet. He lowered his head and drank the cold fruit drink one sip at a time.
Emma ignored him.
The weather there wasn’t cold. A strong person like Jim wouldn’t get sick even if he dressed like that.
After finishing the juice, Jim finally felt much better.
He looked at the meat. Then, he looked at Emma. His face showed clear hesitation as he reached out and poked the piece of meat with his finger.

He looked like he wanted to eat it but was afraid to.
In the end, he lifted his head and pressed his swollen, red lips together in a pitiful way while looking at Emma.
Emma pretended not to see it. She took a nutrient drink from her storage band and drank it.
Then, she stood up and stretched.
She spoke to Jim. “Change out of those wet clothes and take me back to the city. I’m sleepy. I want to find a comfortable house to sleep in.”
Jim said nothing. He stood up and walked into the forest behind them.
Soon, he changed into a clean set of clothes and came back out.
Then, he took Emma back to the city.
She didn’t turn in the mission right away.
He had moved too fast. It had not even been half a day since she accepted the mission, yet it was already finished.
Even if Edric and the others received the news, they would not make it there in time.
She needed to wait and would wait until Edric and the others received the message and were almost there.
Then, she would submit the mission.
That way, she would be able to see them.
On the other side, Kieran had come out to chase after Jim.
He chased all the way to the outer region but didn’t catch Jim. Instead, he ran into Gaellard.
When Kieran saw Gaellard in the outer region, he didn’t hold back at all. He raised his hand and attacked immediately. “Where did you and Jim take Emma?”
Kieran’s face looked terrible.
Gaellard didn’t look any better. He looked even more furious than Kieran. “I also want to know where the hell Jim took Emma.”
