“But” Luca interjects, “I’d like to see what the pack thinks to it first. If they’re willing then so am I.”

“Great” Alex says with a large grin. “We can discuss it more later anyway. The second point i’d like

to talk about is something my Luna and I have been debating for the last year. I believe my time as

the alpha King is coming to an end, I’ve had my fair share of battles, responsibility and loss. As

some of you know, but others don’t, I have lost my entire family during my reign, all killed by

vampires. The only one I love that is still with me is Ophelia, and we wish more than anything to

start a family. However to do that we would have to adopt and we believe that doing it away from the pressure of being Alpha King is more suitable..for us” he explains.

“I can’t have children” Ophelia says quietly as Nova squeezes her hand comfortingly as if she

already knew.

“She probably did” Zeus drawls.

“As I have no heir, and no plan to have one to success the Alpha King position it would be passed

on to the council to vote on who they believe is the Alphas Alpha, aka the Alpha King. It’s a long process, probably another 6months to a year, but it takes into consideration all the different packs views and votes. Multiple can be put forward for the voting process” he explains as we all listen,

confused as to where this is going.

“But I already know who the most suitable candidate is for this position” he says leaning back.

Showing his mark he taps on the crown at the bottom of his mark as Nova and I both freeze in

réalisation.

“The crown appears on the one truly worthy of becoming the Alpha King, it’s not a sign of royalty

but rather who is destined for this position. You still have to go through the process but trust me

when I say it will sway your favour massively” he explains calmly as his gaze focuses on me.

“Why are you talking about this?” Luca asks looking baffled for a moment whilst Laurence is

looking at me intently.

“Because I have already put someone forward who I believe is the rightful Alpha King along with

his Luna Queen” Alex says simply still not tearing his eyes from mine.

Suddenly Elder Martin steps forward and holds my gaze confidently, “your hard work will pay off in

time..”

“You said that to me at the council building..” i whisper as everybody’s attention turns to myself

and Nova.

Alex stands and comes to stand in front of me holding my gaze clearly as his next words shock

me to my core. “Jax..I’ve put you forward, you are the one truly worthy of being the Alpha King,

along with Luna Nova as your Queen and Luna sharing a bond of true power.”

Mila:

“Don’t ask why, but could you come with me please?” My sister-in-law asks, her cheeks flushed lightly and her eyes full of excitement. Nodding in agreement I furrow my brows trying to think of

what she wants me for.

Lost in thought as she gently pulls me along I hear her exclaim, “I didn’t get drinks but look who I found on my travels..this is Mila, Jax’s sister.”

Hearing my name my head snaps up and my eyes immediately meet the mesmerising blue eyes of the man stood in-front me. Smothering a gasp I drink in his appearance, he’s tall and muscular showing he’s an Alpha, his eyes are framed by long lashes, whilst his light hair is short on the sides but longer on the top showing his slight curls. His fitted white shirt hints at his broad chest and

muscular arms where I can see his skin is bronzed and smooth from where he’s folded his shirt sleeves slightly. He’s so hot it makes me want to just lick..wait what am I thinking?!

Trying to subtly take in his scent I catch the faint scent of sandalwood and amber and it’s so

intoxicating I just want to scent it more and more.

Shaking off his confusion first he extends his hand politely, “it’s a pleasure to meet you Mila, I’m Alpha Axton of the White Mountain Pack.”

Slowly reaching my hand out I take his gently and can’t hide the gasp that escapes me as I feel the

faint sparks that erupt at our contact.

“Sparks?” My brother asks looking at me knowingly as I suddenly realise the others are watching

us with barely contained excitement. Looking at our hands I peak and see Axton looking down in

amazement, but confusion still in his eyes as he asks Jax, “how did you know?”

Taking a breath I spit out what I know will bother me, “I rejected my first mate, he still has to

accept the rejection.”

“Oh” he says, his voice quiet as his eyes dim slightly at the news.

Continuing quickly, desperate to see the excitement again that made his eyes bright, I say in a

whisper “I think you’re my second chance..”

“That’s why they’re faint” he says to himself as I can see him almost rolling his eyes at himself

internally. Straightening up he looks at me before pulling me close, “mate” he states.

Suddenly I feel Alia move forward in my mind, shocked by her eagerness I step back as my eyes burn bright with her presence, “mate” I say clearly. The large smile that spreads across his face,

As the others subtly excuse themselves we stand quietly for a moment taking one another in before he nervously clears his throat, “would you like a drink? We can have a seat there?” He asks pointing to a bench seated a little way back from the celebration giving us some privacy.
