Chapter 5
“No, we can’t do th-”
My unfinished words dissolved into ragged breath as Mr. Palmer began to move.
I could feel how aroused he was. His hands were roaming all over my body, and my clothes were already
in disarray.
At that moment, the last thread of reason in my mind snapped completely. I could no longer care less about anything. All I wanted was to fully release the desire burning inside me.
“If no one knows, can’t we just pretend it never happened?”
In the end, I swallowed my refusal and began to writhe urgently against Mr. Palmer.
By the time I finally calmed down, the sheets on the bed were beyond recognition. And beside me, Mr.
Palmer was breathing steadily.
Although we didn’t go all the way, we had already crossed many intimate boundaries.
Once the emotions cooled, I was completely engulfed by a wave of overwhelming embarrassment. Flustered, I picked up my clothes nearby and began to dress. Mr. Palmer had also put his clothes back on by then.
“Ruby, was what happened today my fault? I—”
Mr. Palmer paused mid–sentence and suddenly sniffed the air with an unusually serious expression.
“What’s that smell?”
At first, I didn’t understand what he meant and assumed he was referring to the lingering traces we had left on the bed. My face flushed bright red instantly.
“I–It’s…”
How could Mr. Palmer be like this? He clearly knew what it was, so why would he ask me?
But Mr. Palmer seemed not to notice my discomfort. Instead, he kept sniffing the air before his gaze finally landed on the lit scented candle nearby.
In an instant, his expression changed dramatically.
“Why did you light this candle?”
I looked at the candle, confused. “What’s wrong? My mom said it was a new candle she bought. It’s supposed to help with sleep. I’ve been staying up late a lot lately, so she lit it for me.”
I really hadn’t been resting well recently, and oddly enough, the scent of that candle did seem to help me sleep deeply.
