Surrogate for the Alpha Prince in a Coma novel Chapter 354

Chapter 354

Nearby the car door slammed, Grayson stepped back, and the car started. It moved forward, carrying Reginald away.

When it was out of sight, Josephine said, “I really like him.”

“Why didn’t you say something? We could have stopped him, at least for a time. Or arranged a visit there,” I said. Josephine was a princess. It wouldn’t be a scandal for them to consider each other as romantic options, to court each other.

“He said nothing,” Josephine said. “He just packed and left.” She swallowed hard, and the pain of rejection filled her eyes. “If he returned my interest, wouldn’t he have said something?”

“We don’t know that…” I said.

She shook her head. “Maybe I’m better off alone anyway. Since when as romance ever worked out for me? And with my genes, with my mother… Maybe I don’t deserve love. Maybe my mother’s genes shouldn’t be passed on.”

“Josie, you are not your mother, and any children you would bear would be blessed to have you as their mother. I don’t know what Reginald’s thinking, but whether he has interest or not, you deserve love.”

Tears filled her eyes, and I hugged her.

“Don’t be sad, Aunt Josie!” Madison said, and hugged Josie’s sad. Alex took point on her other side, and we all held her in a group hug.

As Grayson came back to us, he looked at me with a slightly raised brow. I gave him a knowing look, wordlessly promising to fill him in later. He gave a subtle nod and didn’t ask any questions aloud.

Josie cried for only a moment before she pulled herself together. “How about some ice cream, yeah?” she said, mostly to the children, as she blinked back some tears. “I could go for a little treat.”

“Yay!” the kids cheered.

Josie tried to smile but it wobbled at the edges.
