Lillian’s POV 

“Yes,” I said at once. There was no other answer. There could never be another answer. 

Grayson had been first in my heart for a very long time. Time and distance had not changed that. Now, with so many hardships behind us, there was no reason to deny my true feelings any longer. 

Grayson was the love of my life, my mate, and the father of my children. Now, I was ready to stand beside him as his mate. 

Grayson’s eyes widened slightly, almost like he hadn’t expected me to say yes. Then, in a blink, he was on his feet, wrapping his arms around me and spinning me through the air. All the while, he was laughing louder and smiling brighter than I had ever seen him do before. 

Something inside of me healed, all the distance and all the pain felt like nothing now as we rejoined our hearts, the mating bond thrumming happily between us, reinforced and strong, stronger maybe than it had ever been. 

We kissed and it felt like a promise, the first kiss of thousands to come. A lifetime of togetherness. 

“I love you,” Grayson told me, when we had to come up for air. 

“And I love you,” I said. 

We pressed our foreheads together, enjoying the closeness of each other for a little while before he pulled back far enough for me to see the spark of fire in his eyes. All he had to do was lift a brow, and I nodded. We raced each other back to our shared bedroom and fell into bed together, consummating our love again and again all night and then again in the morning. 

In the morning, we told the children, and everyone cried as we held each other. 

“Daddy is going to be our Daddy!” Madison said. 

“He’s always been our Daddy,” Alex replied. 

“Yeah, but now it’s for sure!” 

The planning started at once, and though we decided to wait for some of the changes in the kingdom to settle for a little bit before holding our wedding, we already felt like a whole family. 

Even Reginald seemed to welcome the union, shaking Grayson’s hand. “You better take care of them.”
