“You two have worked hard all day out there.” Riley waved her hand. “Don’t rush back to work now. The tavern is packed and lively. There’s beer and snacks inside. Go have some fun and treat it like a half-day break. I’ll go get Jeff and the others too.”
“Thank you for your kindness, My Lord!”
“No need to be so formal.”
The two bowed excitedly. Then, filled with curiosity, they carefully pushed open the tavern door.
Riley and PineappleBeer stayed outside. They had been a little worried earlier. Modern players from Blue Star might look down on these old-fashioned native NPCs without system abilities, or even bully them. The two had planned to follow them inside just in case.
But Riley had overthought it.
The second the tavern door opened, the noisy chatter did not die down. Instead, the crowd cheered even louder.
“Hey, what are your IDs?”
“Come sit with us!”
“Miss, your dress is so unique. It looks straight out of a medieval movie. Did you get it from a treasure chest?”
“Hey man, wanna drink some beer?”
Everyone assumed they were late guild members and welcomed them warmly.
“They didn’t come from Blue Star. They’re natives of this world and live in my camp. They just wanted to join the fun,” Riley explained.
“Huh? Natives? I’ve never seen one before.”
“There are actual native people in this world? Now that I think about it, I might’ve spotted some before.”
“Doesn’t matter. Come take a seat.”
“How do people even survive in this messed-up world?”

None of the guild members felt any dislike toward the natives. Instead, they were extremely curious. To them, these were real living NPCs from a fantasy world.
Everyone quickly gestured for the two to sit down.
Soon, a few slightly drunk men slung their arms over Joseph’s shoulders. They poured him beer and asked him casually about the story of this world, treating him as an equal.
“This world wasn’t always like this. The weather wasn’t this harsh before.” Joseph answered every question patiently.
“Do you guys have a system too?”
“What’s a system? Is it magic? Any magician gets recruited to serve the royal family.”
“Hey, Anna, right? Want some soda? It’s super sweet!”
The atmosphere inside the tavern hit a brand new high after the two natives joined in.
While everyone munched on snacks, drank beer, and split into small groups to play games, TartKing carried an oak wine barrel out of her inventory with heavy huffs.
Thud.
She set the barrel firmly down on the wooden bar counter.
“What’s this? Doesn’t look like system loot.” OrderBoard walked over and stared curiously at the ancient carvings on the barrel.
“Hehe, this is genuine local goods.” TartKing pried the wooden cork off the top skillfully. “Anna’s merchant caravan gave this to me. It’s fine wine from the High Court Winery.”
Pop.
A rich fruity scent spread through the air instantly.
“Oh my god, this smells incredible!”
“Hurry up, pour me a cup! I’ve had plenty of wine back on Blue Star, and I can tell this is top- tier stuff just from the smell!”
All the drink lovers swarmed toward the bar with wooden cups in hand.
