Members of the Icefield Drifters Alliance leaned on one another, pressing close beside Hope Guild. They held their position along the perimeter wall while staying wary of the rest of WarWolf Guild.
Nearly 100 remaining WarWolf members were thrown into total chaos.
The brutal deaths of their top leaders had shattered their last thread of mental resolve. Though they held the largest numbers, they were the most fractured of all, split into countless clashing factions.
“The boss is dead… not even BloodWolf could survive that attack. What chance do we stand?”
“Hope Guild! Someone ask that woman what we’re supposed to do!”
“We’re… we’re all going to die.”
A WarWolf mage’s legs gave out. He collapsed heavily into the snow, not even bothering to pick up his fallen staff, his voice trembling in raw terror.
Some WarWolf members broke down completely. They spun around in a panic, scrambling toward the far back of the camp, as if hiding deeper in the crowd or staying farther from the gate might buy them just a little more time.
A handful of others still clinging to sanity fixed their gazes on Riley and PineappleBeer, who were downing stamina potions to recover their strength.
After the brutal pushback battle moments earlier, the overwhelming combat strength of these women had left an indelible mark on their minds. Right now, they saw the group as their only shot at survival.
“Bosses… those monsters are closing in fast. What do we do now? Can we even hold the line?”
One WarWolf survivor worked up the nerve to step forward with a small group, halting before Riley. His voice was dry and hollow, his eyes filled with desperate pleading.
Riley did not answer right away. She tossed aside her empty potion bottle, drew in a sharp breath, and pushed past the burning exhaustion searing through her chest.
ľ Lifting her gaze, she stared past the wall at the colossal monsters creeping steadily nearer, her brows knotted tight. “Hold your own ground. I have neither the strength nor the obligation to keep you alive. The only mercy I’ve given is not striking you down where you stand.”
Riley had no patience for these fair-weather opportunists. Her mind was in utter disarray. The night blizzard raged harder by the minute, making it impossible to see what was happening back at the camp. She had no way of knowing if those same terrifying abyssal monsters were closing in there too.
“Neeko, check the feed from our home base.”
Riley pulled a surveillance-linked tablet from her Inventory and handed it to Neeko, all while continuing to cut down any monsters that managed to climb over the camp walls.

Neeko took the tablet quietly and began scrolling through the camp’s security feeds one by one.

Blizzard interference and the camp’s unlit grounds left the footage dim and murky, but there was no sign of monsters anywhere- not even around the mine tunnels,
“Riley! There’s no sign of any monsters back home, but Joseph and the others are nowhere to be seen either.”
Worry pricked at Riley, but before she could dwell on it, sudden unrest exupted from the rear of the camp.
Amid the chaos, someone shouted at the top of their lungs, “The portal! It’s the guild portal! We’ve got a way out!”
The cry was like lighting a fuse to a powder keg.
Dozens of survivors bolted madly toward the portal behind the Bonfire Altar.
“Idiot lot… there’s been a portal here all along, and they’ve been bleeding themselves dry defending this place for days.”
“Move! Get out of my way!”
“The portal’s right up ahead! Hurry! Step through, and we’ll be safe back in our guild territory!”
Several WarWolf members shoved past stunned Icefield Drifters without a second thought, stumbling recklessly toward the stone portal at the very heart of the camp.
