Chapter 388 The Two Colossal Monsters Advance
Chapter 388 The Two Colossal Monsters Advance
After listening to Jack’s report, a faint warmth flickered across
Riley’s heart.
“You’ve done well”
Riley reached out and stroked Ash’s head, then glanced toward the imposing fire wolf figure in the distance.
“Unload your bolts, then the two of you retreat straight to the innermost
section of the altar immediately.
Riley gave them no time for sentimental hesitation. She took the two full baskets of refined steel bolts in hand, her tone unyielding.
“These creatures possess terrifying combat power. Without stat bonuses of your own, this battle is far beyond your capability. Fall back and provide long–range support from the rear.”
“Yes, my lord!” the two replied in unison.
Knowing they would only be a hindrance if they charged forward, they slung the empty baskets over their shoulders and retreated to the bonfire.
With the replenishment of these two full baskets of refined steel bolts, the defensive line, once on the brink of total depletion, finally caught a much–needed reprieve.
“Stay sharp, everyone–reinforcements are here!”
SouthWind of the Icefield Drifters Alliance shouted to rally the crowd. He grabbed handfuls of refined steel bolts off the ground and passed them out to the survivors beside him.
The thirty–odd remaining survivors stared at the blazing figure cutting freely through the hordes of monsters. The spark of hope that had faded in their eyes flared back to life. Leaning on one another, they bound their bleeding wounds tight with cloth strips, then raised their battered shields and light crossbows once more. 2
The tide of battle fell briefly into equilibrium, all thanks to the arrival of the fire wolf.
The fire wolf’s massive frame and dual–colored flames, which dealt true damage, made it a natural bane to the crawling monsters. Almost single–handedly, it forged an uncrossable wall of fire along the eastern side of the camp.
Already weakened by the bonfire’s aura, any crawling monster that drew near was seared by the wolf’s red- and–blue flames. They let out shrill wails before crumbling into charred ash..
With the fire wolf drawing off sixty percent of the minor monsters‘ aggression, the surviving humans could finally focus their fire to shore up the defenses.
Still, these were only the lesser foes..
The true, deadly threat lay with the two colossal behemoths looming nearby.
The last uninjured Hill Devourer suddenly flew into a rage.

It was clearly curaged by the fire wolf’s unbridled display of firepower.
+20 Free Coins.
Its towering frame, stretching over 40 feet tall, crushed every obstacle in its path. Crimson eyes locked firmly on Riley, who stood directing the defense before the altar.
Then off to its rear flank, the crippled giant monster that had lost half a leg in the explosion on the west side dragged itself toward the altar inch by inch. Green blood oozed profusely from its wounds, accompanied by a chilling, grating scrape.
Two mountains of flesh, closing in one after the other.
“I’ll take on the full–grown one with PineappleBeer. The rest of you hold back the crippled one–don’t let it get anywhere near the bonfire!”
Riley took off the coat she had been using to hide herself, then rolled up her sleeves, since the blood pouring from the wound on her arm had glued the fabric to her skin.
Her forearms were crisscrossed with fresh gashes, blood still flowing freely.
“Riley…” PineappleBeer frowned deeply at the sight. After enduring countless deadly blows, Riley’s stamina had dipped far into the critical zone.
“I’ll live.”
Riley hefted her dual axes, ready to rejoin the fray.
Beside them, TartKing was busy tending to Neeko’s injuries.
Meanwhile, Nobody had quietly slipped over from the crowd, her face etched with genuine concern.
“B–Boss… let me patch you up. It’ll be quick!”
Nobody spoke timidly, then swiftly stowed her spear into her Inventory and pulled out potions, antiseptic, and bandages.
Left untreated, external wounds would gradually erode one’s maximum health.
Riley looked at her and nodded gently, not refusing her help.
Judging from Nobody’s gear setup, she really had become a melee fighter too.
Relieved by Riley’s consent, Nobody moved with blurring speed. She finished dressing the wounds in barely twenty seconds.
With Nobody gazing at her in open admiration, Riley charged forward alongside Pineapple Beer.
A low hum rang out.
Riley pushed off with her legs, darting forward as a blurred shadow.
Pineapple Beer followed closely, circling toward the behemoth’s rear from a sharp, unexpected angle.
They moved in perfect, seamless coordination.
