Chapter 440 Changing the Meta
Pineapple Beer looked at Riley and suddenly let out a soft laugh.
Her smile was like the first thaw of spring snow.

“You’re always like this. You literally punch a hole in the sky, and then insist you were just bending down to pick up a dime,” PineappleBeer shook her head and started walking again.

“It’s the truth,” Riley shrugged, catching up with her.
“But…” PineappleBeer’s eyes sharpened again. “No matter how much this world changes, the 20th floor of the dungeon… and the high–tier monsters waiting there, they’ll come eventually. The next natural disaster won’t just be low–level Ghouls.”
Riley simply smiled. “Honestly, I’m not scared at all. Everything I care about is right here beside me. As long as I do my best to protect what I want to protect, I don’t need to overthink it. The less I think, the more peaceful my mind is.”
PineappleBeer looked at her and nodded, saying no more. The two walked side by side back toward Riley’s camp.
When they returned to camp, Riley saw the Flame Wolf sitting by itself near the gates, staring intently into the distance.
It seemed to love the biting, windy environment. The dual–colored flames on its body burned even brighter. Spotting Riley and PineappleBeer from afar, it bounded over excitedly, running circles around them.
“Oh, by the way, Pineapple, I finally gave the little guy a name. C.P. Stands for Clove Paw,” Riley said, pointing at the Flame Wolf, which was currently acting like an overgrown puppy.
Pineapple Beer reached out and ruffled the wolf’s fur, laughing. “Your naming sense is as impeccable as ever, SpicyBurger!”
Riley rolled her eyes playfully. “You’re not exactly one to talk, PineappleBeer!”
“Hahaha!”
The two laughed together, walking back into the camp side by side, leaving C.P. tilting its head in confusion.
After getting C.P. settled, Riley and Pineapple Beer hung out in the woodland pocket

dimension for a bit. Feeling tired, Riley eventually headed back to her room to sleep.
Twiggy came back alone shortly after. Honestly, if the natives hadn’t practically dragged it into sitting down with them out of sheer awe for its construction skills, it probably would have come back even earlier.
Once back, Twiggy settled into its usual routine, resting beside its three dark plants.
Neeko and Ash were still in the tavern partying with everyone. Neeko mentioned that being around so many people, with all the noise and energy, reminded her of her old days in the forest.
Everyone also had the unspoken sense not to push it too far. After celebrating for a while, shortly after Riley went to sleep, they all dispersed back to their own camps or the guild inn to
rest.
The next morning, the sun rose incredibly late.
In a rare occurrence, Riley woke up right on time at 7:00 AM.
She sat up in her warm bed and stretched her arms wide.
Pulling back the curtains, she saw that the weather outside had visibly deteriorated again. The morning sky was a gloomy, oppressive grey.
She opened her system panel out of habit. Every single tab was flooded with messages.
It was either strangers begging her to craft custom gear, or high–ranking members of other guilds who had heard the rumors about her and wanted to jump ship.
The atmosphere in the server channel was vastly better than the old days of non–stop backstabbing and plotting. The meta was visibly shifting.
The early–game chaos–where dozens of people would hack each other to pieces over a single loot crate, or set up elaborate traps to scam people out of a few chunks of coal–was practically nonexistent now. It wasn’t exactly because everyone suddenly developed a strong moral compass; it was mainly because everyone’s gear quality was steadily improving. The vast expanse of the freezing snowfield, coupled with the gradually unlocking resource maps, meant that for the remaining one thousand players on the server, resources weren’t just sufficient— they were practically overflowing.
When there are too many people, they plot, kill, and rob each other for resources. But when the numbers dwindle, humanity’s instinct is to huddle together for warmth.
