Bruce, pop it open.Riley took a step back. Her luck had always been incredibly bizarre, so she figured it was best not to do the honors herself.

Bruce chuckled, stepping forward with his shield. He smashed the edge of his shield hard against the chest’s lock.

CRACK!

The chest popped open. No traps. A few items were scattered inside.

Oh hell yes, toothpaste!Bruce’s eyes lit up, and he excitedly grabbed a tube. Boss, this stuff is toptier luxury now! The wood ash I’ve been using is practically making my gums bleed!

Riley was a bit surprised by the haul of daily necessities.

It seemed the drop rates had been slightly tilted toward lifestyle items recently.

Pack it up, let’s keep moving.

The squad pushed forward.

Over the next two hours, they stumbled across several more of these lowtier chests scattered in the snow. The loot was incredibly

random: bread, nails, toilet paper, canned food, and someone even unboxed an acoustic guitar. (2

While it wasn’t godtier gear, these items brimming with the essence of life on Earth actually made everyone feel incredibly nostalgic and warm.

The exploration wasn’t boring at all.

Around 3:00 PM, the squad crested a small snowy hill, and their vision suddenly opened up.

A massive expanse of broken walls and ruins, halfburied in the snow, appeared before them. Complex patterns were carved into the colossal stone pillars jutting out of the snowdrifts.

They could immediately spot three or four Bronze Chests scattered in the ruins, and there were undoubtedly more hidden away.

Don’t rush for the chests. Keep your guard up and clear out any threats first,Riley reminded them, scanning the environment.

Boss, there’s a cave over there!a sharpeyed survivor shouted, pointing deep into the ruins.

Where two collapsed stone pillars intersected, a pitchblack cave entrance had formed.

The snow around the entrance was heavily trampled into a messy slush, indicating some sort of creature lived there.

Prepare for combat. Spread out the formation. Bruce, take the front. Priests, get your illumination ready.Riley drew her dual axes from her back, the blades humming sharply in the freezing wind.

The squad instantly shifted into combat formation. Bruce raised his massive shield and cautiously approached the cave.

Before he could even peek inside, a blast of foul, hot air violently erupted from the darkness.

ROAR!

Two Icefield Frost Wolves, the size of young bulls, lunged out of the shadows. They were covered in stiff white fur, their fangs gleaming with a chilling blue light. They clearly weren’t lowlevel mobs.

BANG!

Bruce’s shield took the hit with a deafening crash. He skidded back a foot and a half, but he solidly anchored himself against the impact.

Focus fire!Riley barked coldly.

A barrage of fireballs from the priests and arrows from the archers instantly rained down on the two Frost Wolves.

But these monsters had incredibly thick hides; the fireballs only managed to scorch patches of their fur black.

Tanking the damage, one of the Frost Wolves vaulted over Bruce, opening its bloodstained jaws to bite a rookie in the squad.

The rookie scrambled backward, thoroughly terrified by the sudden ambush.

Swoosh!

Before Riley could intervene, a blur of red and blue crashed down from the sky.

It was C.P. The Flame Wolf clamped its jaws around the Frost Wolf’s neck, violently whipped its head, and killed it instantly in a single, brutal strike.

Seeing C.P., the remaining Frost Wolf let out a pathetic whimper. Tucking its tail, it tried to bolt back into the cave.

Riley pushed off the ground, moving even faster than C.P.
