Chapter 449 Slaying the Beast
The tentacle whipped around coiling tightly around Beagle’s waist like a giant python!
“Ahhh!! Help! Help me!” Beagle screamed in absolute despair, dropping his longbow.

A massive dragging force pulled him backward; the monster was trying to drag him straight into that foul–smelling, gaping maw
“Crap!” Ketchup waved her staff, but her fireball spell was still on cooldown. She had no choice but to draw her dagger and sprint
after him.
Beagle was now less than ten feet away from the fanged abyss, and the monster’s putrid breath was already blasting against his back.
In that heart–stopping, do–or–die moment, a blinding yellow blur slashed diagonally down from mid–air!
It was Riley!
Using the momentum from her sprint, she pushed off a jagged rock jutting from the cavern wall, vaulting high into the air and executing a mid–air double jump.
Twisting her body forcefully mid–flight, Riley reached out with one hand, recalling the axe she had just thrown.
Shhhk!
With a single, devastating strike from Riley, the thick tentacle’s retraction was violently interrupted, the blade carving more than halfway through its thick flesh.
Seeing the opening, Bruce charged forward, raising the edge of his shield and slamming it down onto the open wound. However, given the tentacle’s insane defense, even though it was hanging by a thread, he couldn’t completely sever it.
Ketchup dashed in right behind him, driving her dagger into the gap to finish the job.
Finally, the tentacle snapped cleanly in two.
The wound instantly sealed itself with a layer of slime as the remaining half quickly recoiled back to the monster.
Beagle crashed heavily onto the ground along with the severed half of the tentacle. Having narrowly escaped death, he gasped greedily for air, tears and snot streaming down his face.
Riley landed and yanked him behind her.
Having two of its tentacles severed, the mimic catfish completely lost its mind and entered a state of absolute frenzy.
Recklessly, it threw its massive mouth wide open and began to aggressively inhale.
The terrifying suction force actually generated a localized cyclone inside the cavern.
Its two tiny, degenerated eyes–usually hidden beneath layers of fleshy folds–shot wide open in pure agony and rage.
The Variant Flame Wolf, which had been circling the monster’s flank waiting for an opening, kicked off hard against the cavern wall.
Its massive body turned into a burning meteor, pouncing with flawless precision right above the monster’s gaping maw!

Squetch!
C.P’s razor–sharp claws sank deep into the minic catfish’s exposed eyes!
Simultaneously, the Flame Wolf threw its head back and charged its breath.
A concentrated blast of fire was violently sucked straight down the catfish’s throat by its own cyclone, acting like a vacuum cleaner inhaling grease smoke.
ROAAAAAR!!!!!
The gigantic body of the mimic catfish writhed and thrashed madly in excruciating agony, slamming viciously against the cavern walls and causing massive rockfalls.
Blinded by pain, its enormous maw was forced upward, completely exposing its most vulnerable weak point–its throat.
Now!
Riley and C.P. charged forward in unison, with Bruce and Ketchup hot on their heels.
Riley’s legs exploded with power. She kicked off the edge of the monster’s lowered jaw, vaulting into the air once again.
Grabbing the empty air with her right hand, she crossed both axes in mid–air.
Two intersecting arcs of cold steel flashed through the dim cavern.
With lethal precision, Riley’s dual axes sliced straight into the soft cartilage of the monster’s exposed throat!
Schliiiick-!
The sickening sound of sharp blades tearing through flesh echoed loudly.
Scalding green blood erupted like a geyser, splashing against the cavern ceiling and hissing violently as it corroded the rock.
Riley’s axes had cleaved brutally deep into the magical beast’s body!
The colossal mimic catfish let out a final, tragic wail. Its frantically thrashing body suddenly went completely rigid.
The thick barbels on its chin began to wildly shift shapes.
Crystal–clear snow lotuses, burning flowers of fire…
A bizarre slideshow of exotic, mystical flora flashed across the barbels in rapid succession.
But Riley and her team weren’t about to be bewitched a second time. They unloaded everything they had.
The mimic catfish was forced entirely onto the defensive. Its tentacles couldn’t regenerate nearly fast enough to keep up with the team’s relentless hacking and slashing.
Meanwhile, the rest of the exploration squad outside finally heard the commotion and rushed into the cave.
