Simultaneously, a violent spatial ripple erupted in the center of the smoke.

Riley quickly retracted her axe and backed away from the cloud.

She was far too familiar with that kind of spatial fluctuation. Teleportation arrays, dungeon pulls, even the swap scrolls NorthWind usedthey all belonged to this energy system.

It was the distinct signature of a teleportation item. Charging blindly into the smoke would only leave her wide open for another ambush.

A few seconds later, the smoke dissipated, leaving nothing behind. The man had vanished without a trace.

Riley straightened up, instantly flipping her grip on her dual axes as her eyes scanned the dimly lit corridor.

Once she was absolutely certain there wasn’t a second enemy lurking in the shadows, she pulled a hightier stamina potion from her inventory, bit off the cork, and downed it in one gulp.

The cool liquid slid down her throat, turning into a soothing warmth that eased her aching muscles.

As time ticked by, the Unknown Toxin debuff gradually faded, and the oppressive heaviness finally bled out of her limbs.

Riley exhaled a long, cloudy breath, her brain rapidly replaying the encounter.

The fight was brief, but the sheer volume of information it revealed was staggering.

First, the opponent’s combat power was off the charts, and his gear was just as decked out as hers.

Second, his arsenal: a potion that enchanted a weapon with toxic fire, a metallic sphere that generated a localized gravity field, and an instantcast teleportation card for escape. Riley had never seen or even heard of these items on her server’s trading channel.

Whether it was his combat style, his seasoned reflexes, or this completely alien system of items, nothing about that man suggested he was a survivor who grew up in the same environment she did.

A crossserver survivorRiley’s gaze darkened as she arrived at the only logical conclusion.

It was the only explanation for how a powerhouse of that caliber could just pop up out of nowhere.

But that conclusion led to a much more terrifying question.

When that man saw her, his first reaction wasn’t caution or probing. It was to strike with lethal force. without a shred of hesitation.

That kind of clean, decisive killing intent was absolutely driven by some tangible reward.

Why would the system forcefully drag all players into this deeper dungeon?

What if the rules of this dungeon instance were no longer about siniple survival but actively encouraging players from different servers to slaughter each other?

Like earning massive points for killing players from other servers? Or maybe dropping their entire inventory upon death?

At that thought, Riley’s heart sank.

If the dungeon rules really worked like that, and if the other crossserver survivors were anything like the man she just foughtarmed with bizarre items and willing to kill for loot without a second thought

Then the rest of the Hope Guild was in grave danger.

Even though she had boosted everyone’s gear, they stood very little chance against elite, crossserver veterans like him.

What worried Riley the most were Pineapple Beer and TartKing. They had been through hell and back together; their bond went without saying.

She couldn’t wait around. She had to contact them immediately.

Riley tried using the groupcreation method PineappleBeer had demonstrated back in the Magic Beast Forest, but after a few failed attempts, she shook her head in disappointment.

Left with no other options, she pulled out the torn dungeon map she had acquired during her first dungeon cycle.

Using the sickly light from the wall sconces, she carefully crossreferenced the layout of the corridor with the markings on the parchment.

A moment later, she stowed the map, her expression turning grim.

The width of the passages, the decorations, the architectural detailsnone of it matched any coordinates on the map.
