The second was the Bat Fiend, which camouflaged itself as stalactites hanging from the ceiling. It launched silent, ultrasonic mental attacks to cripple its prey’s combat effectiveness before diving in for an ambush.
The third was the Corrupted Slime, an amorphous blob creeping through the corners of the corridors. It was almost entirely immune to physical damage, but its attack power was equally pathetic. Riley ultimately resolved the issue with sheer brute force, relying on raw power to smash it to pieces.
But aside from the tricky new mobs, what truly shocked Riley was the absurdly high drop rate on this floor.
In the first three floors of the dungeon, finding a Bronze Chest in the corridors was the norm; a Silver Chest was considered a lucky haul.
But here, after just half an hour of exploring and clearing a few sporadic waves of monsters, Riley found three consecutive Gold Chests tucked away in dead ends and abandoned stone chambers!
Riley found a relatively dry, abandoned stone room with a narrow entrance. She rigged a crude early- warning trap at the door using a few loose rocks, then sat down with her back against the wall to take stock of her haul.
She popped the three Gold Chests open one by one.
“Obtained: Miniature Building x5. Can generate a building at a designated location.”
“Obtained: Frost Tokens x80.”
“Obtained: Mechanical Blueprint: Gear Elevator.”
“Obtained: Fire Elemental Core (Purple) x2.”
Riley’s eyes lit up.
With the native population growing, building capacity was a tight bottleneck. The real value of these miniature buildings was their ability to bypass base limits and expand her camp’s infrastructure.
Frost Tokens were the primary currency for trading with dungeon NPCs. Naturally, they’d be useful here, and with this extra 80, her stash had grown to 437.
As for the two purple Fire Elemental Cores, those were the exact gourmet snacks her gluttonous Variant Flame Wolf, C.P., always drooled over.
Second chest:
“Obtained: Wind–up Pocket Watch xl. A precision timepiece made entirely of mechanical gears.”
“Obtained: Purple Armor: Flame Walker Cloak xl. Reduces partial fire damage and increases the survivor’s thermal tolerance.”
“Obtained: Inventory Expansion Card 16 x2.”

Four item cards radiating a faint purple glow hovered quietly in the air. Riley reached out and grabbed them, the system’s detailed descriptions instantly flooding her mind.
Strong Temporary Shield: Upon use, generates a powerful temporary shield around the user, capable of absorbing massive amounts of magical or explosive damage.
Spatial Confinement Field: Throw at a designated area to instantly generate a 15–foot radius forcefield. All hostile targets within the field will be forcibly immobilized for 3 seconds (ignores level disparity, but duration is reduced by high–tier mental resistance).
Directional Blast Rune: Can be attached to any surface. Detonates after 3 seconds with a violent explosion rivaling mid–tier magic, dealing bonus armor–piercing damage to heavy–armored units.
Looking at these cards, the image of the cross–server man she had just fought flashed through Riley’s mind.
The teleportation card he used to escape, and the gravity sphere he used mid–fight, were clearly high–tier items just like these.
Riley finally understood the dungeon’s underlying logic.
The loot table was directly tied to the power scaling of the strongest survivors currently in the instance. Riley’s server hadn’t naturally reached this stage of progression yet; she was essentially mopping up the high–tier dividends generated by the advanced players from other servers.
Riley organized her new item cards, sorting them alongside her existing healing potions and debuff- cleansing elixirs, placing them in easily accessible slots in her inventory.
Sorting complete, Riley didn’t linger. She took a swig of water, dismantled her trap, and vanished back into the dim blue glow of the corridor.
After pushing forward for another half mile, the terrain began to grow complex, branching out into a maze of crossroads and crumbling stone pillars.
