Chapter 502 Trap Chest
The group sat along the watt and began sorting through their newly acquired loot.
Even Riley, always calm and collected, looked visibly stunned by the sheer value of the supplies.

They had not only earned back all the tokens spent at the market, but also seized a massive stock of rare cross–server materials, high–tier trap items, and two untouched purple–tier equipment crates.
Riley divided the spoils according to everyone’s needs. She opened the purple–tier crates on the spot and handed the newly dropped gear to Desk and Beagle, whose builds were severely lacking in key upgrades.
“These guys are absolutely loaded.“”
LoneWolf rubbed his hands together, clearly thrilled.
On the other hand, newer players like Beagle struggled to shake off the heavy weight of what they’d just experienced.
Out in the snowfields, they fought monsters and survived natural disasters. Here in the dungeon, killing other players had become
the fastest shortcut to resources.
A somber silence settled over the party.
Hanna let out a soft sigh.
She pulled a harmonica from her pouch–one she’d obtained from a resource crate earlier–and wiped it clean before pressing it to her lips.
A slow, soothing polar folk melody echoed through the quiet place.
The tune carried a faint sorrow, yet brimmed with quiet hope. It was like the first ray of sunlight breaking through after a brutal
snowstorm.
The music held a subtle magic, calming the team’s frayed nerves and easing the visceral discomfort lingering after the brutal fight.
Leaning against a stone pillar, Riley listened to the melody. The tight furrow between her brows slowly relaxed.
Ten minutes later, with their minds and bodies fully rested, they pushed open the stone gate and stepped pack into the dim tunnel.
According to the map, they needed to traverse this section to reach the opposite side of Floor 8, where the rest of their scattered Hope Guild members were waiting to regroup.
The tunnel’s terrain gradually shifted as they advanced. Bluestone paving gave way to damp jagged rock. Cold water dripped constantly from the ceiling, and the air grew colder and more oppressive by the step.
“Hold up.”
Riley, leading the way, suddenly raised a hand to halt the group.
Two chests sat quietly on a wider stone platform up ahead.
The one on the left was a silver chest shimmering with faint moonlight radiance. The one on the right was intricately carved with hollow patterns, glowing with enticing golden light through every crack–a rare golden chest.

Chapter 502 Trap Chest
“We’re that lucky? Chests just sitting out in the open?” Beagle’s eyes lit up, and he started forward at once.
“Wait. It could be a trap chest.” Hanna grabbed him firmly by the shoulder and pulled him back.

Trap chests spawned random waves of dungeon monsters. Newer players like Beagle were easy targets for sudden ambushes and should never open them alone.
Riley scanned the surroundings carefully, checking for trigger–based mechanisms. Once she confirmed the area was safe, she stepped cautiously toward the golden chest.
But right before her fingers touched the latch, she froze mid–motion.
She suddenly remembered her active title–Unlucky Fool–still displayed on her status panel.
She’d already confirmed the title didn’t affect dungeon chest loot quality, yet it still felt like terrible luck to risk opening a top–tier chest while wearing it.
“What’s wrong?” Hanna asked from behind, confused by her pause.
Riley pulled her hand back and quickly navigated her game interface, manually unequipping the Unlucky Fool title.
“Nothing.” She cleared her throat quietly. “Just forgot to switch my title.“.
Hanna stared at her rare awkward expression for a second before realizing what had happened. She covered her mouth and giggled softly.
“Heh, I’ll take the silver one then!” LoneWolf volunteered boldly. “I’ve always got great luck.”
He stepped forward, drew his dagger, and pried the silver chest’s latch open with the flat of his blade.
Click.
The latch popped open without resistance.
But there was no silver glow and floating loot orb.
