Chapter 554 Old Grudge
He had fewer men with him than back on Floor 8, but the ones who stayed were clearly all elites.

The fact that they’d reached the Floor 12 central hall first and set up a blockade meant they’d either stumbled on some luck encounters or found a secret shortcut.
The man with the beast-hide pauldrons stared at Riley, a triumphant grin spreading across his face.
He locked his gaze on her, like he’d at last found the one he’d been waiting to see.
“Finally. You’re here.”
The men behind him burst into mocking laughter.
Some pushed their crossbows forward half a foot, the sharp tips aiming straight at the Hope Guild members.
Someone shouted, “You were so high and mighty on Floor 8! Look at you now-forced to use the path we control!”
The beast-hide man raised a hand, silencing his crew.
His grin widened as he stared Riley down.
“I told you this score wasn’t settled.
“You loved letting people into the hall for free. Loved smashing our checkpoints, didn’t you?
“There’s only one entrance to the Floor 12 central hall now.”
He lifted his blade and pointed at the glowing barrier behind him.
“You wanna get in?
“Leave all your tokens, potions, and gear here. Then beg for your lives.”
His eyes swept over Riley’s sixty-six man team, greed completely undisguised
“And you…
“You embarrassed me back on Floor 8. Today, you’re gonna pay that debt back.”
Every member of Hope Guild wore a grim expression.
Bruce slammed his shield against the ground.
Felix pulled his pack in front of him, ready to fight.
Hanna raised her crossbow, her gaze cold as steel.
Lone Wolf sighed softly. “I thought this dungeon only spawned monsters, Turns out it still spawns garbage Fake you
The beast-hide man’s face darkened. “What did you say?”

toneWolf smiled innocently and stepped half a pace back behind Riley.
“I said you guys are persistent. Get-beaten once, yet you ran all the way up here just to line up for a second round.”
LoneSparrow burst out laughing.
The mood on the blockade side turned ugly instantly.
Riley didn’t laugh.
She glanced at the crude blockade, then at the only hall entrance.
The safe zone was right in front of them.
Answers about Pineapple Beer and TartKing waited on the higher floors, yet these people were blocking their path again.
Riley tightened her grip on her dual axes, her tone flat.
“Move.”
The beast-hide man sneered. “And if I don’t?”
Riley lifted her eyes to meet his. “Then go to hell!”
Strangely enough, the man’s grin grew wider at those words.
This was exactly what he wanted to hear.
He’d never gotten over the public humiliation Riley dealt him on Floor 8.
His crew had held the only entrance, partnering with several small factions to tax every passing survivor.
Then Riley and Hope Guild showed up. She’d broken through their checkpoint and let everyone enter the hall for free, right in f
of countless witnesses.
After that, every other blockade on the floor had been forced to back down,
Riley had completely crushed their profitable scheme.
He’d never swallowed that loss.
He’d chased Hope Guild ever since Floor 9.
But Riley’s team had advanced too fast, and he’d never managed to catch up.
That changed when he stumbled on an alternate route and reached Floor 12 early. Once he realized this floor only t
hall entrance, he knew his chance had come.
This time was different.
They held the high ground.
They had fortifications.
