The stone bridge left no room for big evasive moves, and they couldn’t risk any large explosions either.

NorthWind spun around at once with the second shield team to lock down the bridge’s back end. Hanna had to split her ranged attacks. Half her fire held off the Bonewarden Sentinels up front, while the rest picked off the Crystal Thorn Bugs closing in from behind.

Pineapple Beer sprinted across the bridge. She triggered Shadow Shift for a split second, slipping through the gaps between the Sentinels’ spears.

Riley bolted right after her and unleashed Mountain-Shatter Step against the bridge surface; the shockwave stalled all three Sentries mid-movement.

The entire bridge shook from the impact.

Felix’s face turned white with fear.

“Burger, take it easy! If this bridge collapses, we’re all done for!”

Riley didn’t have a second to respond.

She swung her twin axes straight for the middle Sentinel’s knees. Pineapple Beer struck from its side and back, and the two of them forced the huge monster back half a step through pure brute force.

But the bridge was way too narrow. The Sentinels’ long spears gave them a massive upper hand here.

One spear grazed Riley’s shoulder before crashing into a frontline shield member’s block. The shield cracked instantly on impact. The guy’s feet slipped out from under him, and half his foot dangled over the bridge’s empty edge.

Two teammates reached out at the same time and dragged him back to safety.

Meanwhile, the Crystal Thorn Bugs in the rear started bursting their crystal spikes.

The crossbow bolt hit its mark perfectly, slamming right into the right Sentinel’s eye socket.

The monster’s attack went completely off course. Riley seized the opening, using her Earthen Battle Wristband to block the middle Sentinel’s strike. She charged forward and slammed into its body, crossing her axes to cut deep into its chest bone cracks.

PineappleBeer appeared right at its back at the exact same time, stabbing her Time-Severing Shadow Blade into the base of its neck.

A sharp cracking sound cut through the air.

The middle Sentinel crumpled to the ground.

They’d finally broken through the enemy line on the bridge.

“Move forward!”

Bruce led the shield team to push against the last two Sentinels. Riley and Pineapple Beer cut them down from both sides, while Hanna picked off stragglers with ranged shots. In the rear, NorthWind’s team wiped out the remaining Crystal Thorn Bugs.

It took seven brutal minutes for them to fight all the way across the stone bridge.

They didn’t stop to rest the second they got off. They kept moving forward dozens of yards
