But they couldn’t just stand there and do nothing.

They needed to figure out how Floor 15’s central hall worked, where the connector was, whether they could reach the camp, and if they could restock potions and repair their gear- and fast.

Riley thought for a moment and spoke.

“Everyone hold your positions. Rest and regroup here.”

TartKing had just finished treating a teammate with a fractured bone. She looked up at Riley.

“You’re heading inside to scout?”

“Yeah,” Riley said. “Too many of us would stand out and stir up trouble. A small team will scope things out first.”

Hanna frowned. “You need to rest right now.”

Riley glanced down at the wound on her shoulder.

Healing potions had already sealed it. The bleeding had stopped. Compared to everyone else, she was in decent shape.

More than fit enough to fight.

“I’m the best one for this job,” Riley said.

Hanna was about to argue.

Riley met her gaze. “You stay and watch over the team. Someone strong needs to hold everyone together here.”

Hanna fell silent for a long moment before nodding.

“Fine. I’ll stay.”

Riley turned to Pineapple Beer and TartKing.

“You two come with me.”

TartKing agreed at once. “Got it.”

Pineapple Beer didn’t need any explanation.

She knew she had to go.

Pineapple Beer stood at the edge of the platform, her gaze steady on the central market. She held faint memories of this place, yet they were fragmented.

The feeling was unsettling.

Knowing fragments of the truth, but never the full picture, only made her more vigilant.

Riley walked up beside her. “Remember anything?”

Pineapple Beer shook her head. “Only broken images. An inn, a connector, crowds of people. Nothing else is clear.”

“That’s enough,” Riley said. “We’ll piece it all together once we’re inside.”

Pineapple Beer shot her a glance. “Is your shoulder wound alright?”

Riley stretched her arm. “Almost healed. Won’t slow me down in a fight.”

TartKing walked over just in time to hear that. Her expression dropped instantly.

“What do you mean it won’t slow you down? Can you be halfway reasonable about your injury?”

Riley looked at her. “Then what’s the reasonable call here?”

TartKing stared at her shoulder for two seconds.

“The reasonable call is you sit down and rest for two hours.”

Riley said nothing.

TartKing took a deep breath. “But I know you won’t. So don’t pick any fights along the way. If you have to attack, yell for me first. I’ll top off your status.”

Riley nodded. “Relax. No fighting here.”

TartKing rolled her eyes, then pulled a cake out of her Inventory and handed it over.

“Eat this.”

Riley took it and took a bite.

“I thought you didn’t have any left.”

“Saved a few for you two,” TartKing said with a playful smile.

Sweetness spread across her tongue, and her stamina slowly regenerated.

TartKing handed another cake to Pineapple Beer.

Pineapple Beer stared at the cake for a moment, then spoke. “Let’s go.”

The three of them left the temporary resting spot of the Hope Guild and headed for the central market.

A broad stone road divided the entrance platform from the central district. A steady stream of people moved back and forth along it.

Many glanced their way and eyed their gear, yet that was all. Nobody here was green. The aura from Riley’s multiple orange-tier items could not be concealed, and PineappleBeer’s unique bearing also set her apart.

No one dared to cause trouble.

But peace didn’t equal safety.

Riley could feel several fleeting gazes landing on them before quickly shifting away.

They were judging and weighing their worth.

The central market drew closer, and the signs on the small roadside buildings came into focus.

Walking through the streets felt just like wandering a town.

A dozen people queued outside the potion shop, rows of glass bottles lining the counter behind the counter. The blacksmith’s shop echoed with steady hammer-blows, broken gear heaped outside its doorway. A wooden sign hung over the inn, listing lodging prices, though they were still too far to make out the figures.

Further ahead stood a taller building than all the rest, packed with more people than

spot.
