Chapter 644 Fake Maps and Trapped Chests
Chapter 644 Fake Maps and Trapped Chests
There was more than one monster hiding in the water.
At least five or six dark shadows lingered around the submerged chest
Staring at the black water. TartKing couldn’t help but mutter under her breath. These quoting but hiding like nothing’s here? That’s cheap
Pineapple Beer shook her head.
“We’re skipping this one”
Riley nodded.
“Let’s go.”
TartKing glanced reluctantly at the half-submerged chest, pushing down her disappo
“What if the map’s inside though?”
Riley glanced back at her.
TartKing immediately raised her hands in surrender
“I know, I’m just talking. No second thoughts.”
The three of them circled around the broken bridge.
Floor 16 was packed with treasure chests, but barely any of them were safe to apen
The third chest sat inside a half-collapsed shop. A broken wooden sign hung crooked aver the entrance, and three blade-legged bugs clung upside down to the ceiling beams anside
Pineapple Beer took out one bug first.
Riley pulled the other two aggro toward herself.
Taking the chance, TartKing darted behind the shop counter and opened the chest.
She looted a single Temporary Shield Card and a small stack of Frost Tokens
No map.
The fourth chest was at the end of the long street, guarded by four gray-armored scamels
One quick look was all Riley needed to give up on it entirely.
The four sentinels stood tightly grouped Behind them glinted a blue trineral ve that looked like 4 bagh- value resourer node, with crystal light flickering through the wall cracks

TartKing’s eyes went wide.
“Semany ores.”
Riley grabbed the back of her collar and tugged her backward firmly.
“It’s a resource-rich spawn zone.”
Even while getting dragged away. TartKing kept murmuring. I know. I was just looking. Seriously, only looking.”
Pineapple Beer stepped back out of the shadows.
“There are at least seven mobs in there, probably an elite guard too. Going in would start way more trouble than just opening one chest.”
Riley let go of her collar.
TartKing rubbed the back of her neck and mumbled, “Fine. I won’t look. If I saw good stuff in there, I’d be kicking myself all day.”
The trio kept searching.
The sixth chest was already opened by another three-player squad.
The group looked totally worn down.
One was missing an arm, another held a cracked staff that looked ready to break, and the tall guy in the back was carrying the chest. The second he spotted Riley’s group, he instantly hid the chest behind his back.
Riley stopped at the alley entrance, making no move to advance.
The tall man’s voice came out rough and hoarse.
“We opened this first. It’s ours.”
“Just passing through,” Riley said calmly.
The group clearly didn’t believe her, still gripping their weapons tight.
Pineapple Beer glanced at the bloodstains and scratch marks on the wall behind them, lowering her voice to warn Riley.
“They just finished a fight. More mobs are probably chasing them.”
Right after she spoke, the scraping sound of iron boots echoed in the distance.
The tall man’s face dropped instantly.
“Move out?”

The three-player squad bolted down the other alley without hesitation.
Riley didn’t chase them, nor did she try to steal their chest.
TartKing watched them run off into the distance.
Riley turned toward the direction of the approaching boot sounds.
“We’re leaving too.”

The seventh chest finally gave up a loot piece they’d been hoping for-a Partial Floor 16 Terrain Fragment.
TartKing almost yelled out loud the second she saw the word “map”.
But when she unfolded the fragment, it only marked two nearby streets and a collapsed plaza. There was zero information about the central hall.
She crouched on the ground, looking utterly dejected.
“It straight up tricked me.”
Riley crouched down and took the fragment from her hand.
“It’s still useful, Tart. At least we know to avoid the collapsed plaza.”
PineappleBeer nodded.
“There are resource nodes along the plaza’s edge, and the mob density’s super high there.”
TartKing folded the fragment and stowed it away.
“Alright, I’ll take it. It’s half a win.”
Searching for chests grew more and more dangerous as they went
The eighth chest was guarded by a two-headed sentinel.
It had dual upper bodies, four arms, and four hooked scythes in total. Its movement speed was double that of regular sentinels.
Riley pulled it out of its guard position, but got locked down by all four scythes the moment their first clash started.
She didn’t try to tank the hit head-on. Instead, she used Silent Rush Knee Pads to shuffle half a step away. breaking the lock.
The two-headed sentinel’s scythes sliced through empty air. Its left head let out a low, angry growl.
Iron boot scraping sounds suddenly erupted from both ends of the street at the same time. TartKing was crouching in front of the chest, and her hands jolted in panic at the noise.
