Chapter 654 The Seven Pillar Riddle

The three of them walked along the silver lines for ten minutes and only met one monster.

The creature crouched at an intersection of silver lines. It looked like a humanoid figure pieced together from starlight and armor. standing nearly six and a half feet tall with no weapon in its hands. It didn’t lunge at them the second it spotted the trio. It simply lifted its head and glanced their way.

As they kept walking, PineappleBeer suddenly grabbed TartKing’s arm.

“Watch your step.”

TartKing froze mid–step right away.

Another silver line intersection sat directly in front of her toes.

The Starlight Armor Figure lowered its head and went completely still again.

Riley tried circling around from the other side.

The monster didn’t chase her.

“It’s probably guarding the node,” PineappleBeer said.

TartKing let out a breath of relief. “So it only fights if we mess with the node?”

Riley didn’t let her guard down. “Seems that way for now.”

They pressed forward and found two more nodes further ahead.

A Starlight Armor Figure stood guard at every single one.

Other than those elite guards, there were no small mobs anywhere.

No treasure chests either.

The whole reward system had changed.

Floor 19 worked nothing like the lower floors. There were no random chests scattered along the path, no traps or roaming mobs blocking their way. All the rewards were highly concentrated, like the dungeon was waiting for players to clear some kind of condition first.

On top of that, the map markers kept shifting nonstop, making it impossible to lock down a definite direction.

The floor felt deceptively easy, but the trio moved slower and slower.

TartKing wanted to suggest picking up the pace several times, but she held her tongue every time.

Eventually, she couldn’t hold it in anymore.

“This place is way too quiet. It’s creeping me out.”

PineappleBeer stared at the distant stone pillars.

TartKing walked circles around the seven pillars, muttering to herself, “Crescent moon, broken sword, fish bone, tree branch, closed eye, empty cup, cracked ring… What even is this mess?”

The three of them waited for the lines to reset.
