Conference room.
All the department heads were waiting. The door opened and two secretaries came in, setting an extra chair right beside the CEO’s seat.
“What’s that about?” someone whispered. “Who gets to sit next to the boss?”
Was it Mr. Hansen? He hadn’t stuck his nose in the company in years—these days, he was busy being a doting grandpa. Why would he show up now?
Maybe it was the long-lost Cedillo heir finally coming back to make peace with Andre?
Speculation buzzed around the room. That seat next to Andre had always been empty—not even Noah, his right-hand man, had ever sat there. So, who would dare?
Noah walked in first. “Noah, what’s with the extra chairs?” a colleague called out.
Noah slid into his usual spot at the long table, this time closer to Andre than ever before. Who knew what was about to happen today?
He just grinned, playing it cool. “Someone who stands shoulder to shoulder with the CEO,” he teased.
Two minutes later, the mystery was solved: Andre entered, carrying his young son in his arms.
“Henry?!”
Andre had just bargained with the boy outside, and now brought him in.
Henry wasn’t shy at all. Andre set him down in the new chair—Noah on one side, Dad on the other.
Andre took his own seat, gave Henry’s hair a fond ruffle, and explained, “Mia’s in class, so I’m on babysitting duty. He’s too much of a handful to leave at home, so here he is.”
The staff exchanged grins, sneaking glances at the little boy who radiated energy and mischief. “Definitely Andre’s kid—look at that confidence! Future CEO in the making!” someone joked.
Henry had no idea what they were saying.
He was happily munching on a snack his dad had opened for him, clutching it in his tiny hand. After a bite, he held it out to Noah with a generous, “Noah, you want some?”
