Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 1907

Kids always had a knack for inventing weird little phrases that somehow made perfect sense.

Cooper muttered a complaint about his nephew's demands, but still pulled out his phone and started a video call with Kristen. "What do you even have to talk about? You two just chatted an hour ago."

When the call connected, all three of them were in their pajamas.

"Did you just wake up?" Cooper asked, glancing at the clock to calculate her local time. "Didn't you have a 9 AM class?"

Cooper, who always preferred a natural look, stared at the fresh-faced woman on the screen for a moment too long. "What happened to your face? Kristen, bring the phone closer. Let me see what that red patch is."

Kristen was standing in front of a mirror. She turned her head side to side, inspecting her own reflection. "I think I'm having an allergic reaction."

Cooper's brows furrowed deeply, forming tight lines on his forehead. "How bad is it? Get closer to the camera."

Kristen leaned in, showing him the irritated skin on her cheek. "It's just this one spot. I called out sick for my morning class."

Meanwhile, Henry was trapped under his uncle's arm, struggling fiercely to get into the frame. Wasn't this supposed to be his video call with Aunt Kristen? Why was Uncle Cooper hogging the phone?!

"Aunt Kristen!" he hollered at the top of his lungs.

"Oh, sweetie! Let me see my sweet boy!"

Henry finally managed to stand up on the mattress, throwing his arms around his uncle's neck so he could perfectly block Cooper's face from the camera. "Aunt Kristen, what happened to you?"

...

In the early hours of the morning, Andre and Mia drove back to the Irvin estate. Everyone was asleep, so Mia quietly unlocked the front door herself.

She tiptoed to Cooper's bedroom and knocked lightly. "Are you asleep? I'm coming in," she whispered.

Cooper, leaning against the headboard, replied dryly, "You're not welcome."
