Sylvara's Rebirth A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 129

**Chapter 129: Wiped Out in Seconds**

Sylvara found herself standing amidst the chaos, flanked by the two unfortunate souls who had just met their end. With her gun raised high, she fired off a series of blank shots into the air, both straight ahead and at an angle, her expression a mixture of confidence and mischief.

Veyric, unable to contain his amusement, burst into laughter, halting her mid-action. “What are you doing? You can’t even see anyone! Why waste your bullets firing into thin air?”

With a sly smile playing on her lips, Sylvara shot back, “Who says I can’t see anyone?”

As if on cue, four figures tumbled out from the leaf piles that lay ahead and to the side, all within a mere hundred yards.

Her invisible mental energy danced through the air, lifting the fallen leaves and revealing the hidden ambushers. They fired their weapons in a frantic attempt to retaliate, but every shot was thwarted by the very leaves that had concealed them.

Sylvara, her focus unwavering, aimed through her scope, her heart racing with the thrill of the hunt.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Four shots rang out in quick succession, each one finding its mark.

Plumes of crimson smoke erupted into the air, marking the swift demise of all six ambushers.

Veyric rushed over, his expression a mix of shock and admiration. “I barely had time to react, and you’ve already taken them out! Did you do some target practice back on that godforsaken planet of yours?”

Sylvara tossed the gun into his arms nonchalantly and crouched down, inspecting the two she had just “eliminated.” “Can you identify which military academy they hail from?” she inquired, a glint of curiosity in her eyes.

Veyric, cradling the gun, scrutinized their camouflaged faces, but it was their uniforms that provided the clues. “Fourth Military Academy. Third-year Mecha Department,” he deduced.

Nodding, Sylvara’s gaze shifted to the badges adorning their left arms.

With a swift motion, she tore one off and held it up for Veyric to see. “This joint training exercise seems to revolve around snatching nameplates from the freshmen.”

“But shoulder badges? Those are reserved for department heads. Freshmen wouldn’t have them. Are you suggesting we should be stealing badges from upperclassmen and instructors who are hot on our trail?” he replied, a hint of incredulity in his voice.

Veyric casually accepted the badge she offered him, examining it with a frown. “You’re asking me for answers? You might as well consult these two.”

“They’re already dead. And dead people can’t talk,” Sylvara rolled her eyes, exasperation creeping into her tone. “You should know that better than I do.”

Veyric slapped his forehead in realization. “Right. Blank rounds knocked them out, so they’re ‘dead’ and out of the game.”

“Regardless, we need to gather any badges and nameplates we can find,” Sylvara commanded, rising to her feet. “You take care of those two, and I’ll handle the others.”

Veyric rolled up his sleeves, determination flashing in his eyes. “You got it.”

Veyric smeared the camo paint across his face in hurried strokes, the urgency of their situation propelling him forward.

With their disguises secured, they gathered their belongings and set off into the wilderness once more.

Sylvara extended her mental energy, scanning the area as she had before.

But just as she did, a hissing sound pierced the air, causing her brows to knit together in concern. “Veyric, there’s a mutant beast nearby. Stay close to me. We need to move!”

“A mutant beast? What kind?” Veyric’s legs wobbled at the thought, panic creeping into his voice. “Wait for me!”

But Sylvara was already sprinting toward the source of the hissing. In the Interstellar Era, she had only encountered three-headed dogs; other mutant beasts were still a mystery to her.

And Malcolm had spoken of wanting lion heads, tiger skins, donkeys, ants, and who knew what else. She felt a surge of excitement at the prospect of encountering one.

With each stride, the hissing grew louder, echoing through the trees.

Twenty minutes later, Sylvara burst out of the dense forest and into a vast open plain, a shimmering lake lying between the woods and the distant mountains.

Her heart raced as she spotted a colossal winged python, its massive wings flapping powerfully. The creature opened its mouth wide, as if to swallow the unsuspecting Agares, who stood on the grass, clad in green combat gear and completely unarmed.
