Hearing Sylvara praise him like this, Callam quickly said. “It’s alright, it’s alright! But rest assured. Ms. Sylvie, my family and I take a very natural approach to having children. We won’t be pushy about it at all.”

Sylvara’s eyes darkened as she replied politely, “Your family sounds very open-minded. Please wait here for

a moment.”

Callam stood to the side, unable to hide the ecstatic joy on his face. “Of course.”

Whoosh!

The Smokewillow in Sylvara’s hand shot out like a blade rapidly striking toward Agares’s neck.

Agares’s eyes were deep as he stood motionless, allowing Smokewillow to wrap around his neck, as if he wouldn’t resist even if it strangled him to death.

Callam’s expression shifted as he blurted out, “Ms. Sylvie, what are you doing?”

He hadn’t expected that Sylvara, with H-grade physical power and no mental energy, would attack the Commander.

Auren was scared and tried to intervene, only to be blocked by General Kenobia, who held him down and prevented him from moving.

“You said you wanted to marry me, right? Then don’t interfere with what I’m doing!” Sylvara yanked hard, trying to drag Agares out of the room.

Agares’s feet seemed nailed to the ground. No matter how hard she pulled, she couldn’t budge him an inch. Furious, Sylvara tightened Smokewillow, wrapping it tighter around Agares’s neck.

Blake’s heart was in her throat as she weakly reminded her, “Sweetheart, can we not be so violent? Let’s talk this out, just talk it out.”

“I don’t have anything to say to him.” Sylvara shook Smokewillow, and blue flames wrapped around it, striking toward Agares’s neck.

Agares moved, extending his torn palm to grip Smokewillow, blocking the blue flames from reaching his neck. He looked up directly at Sylvara, several paces away, fierce and full of fury, and asked, “You want to kill me?”

She’d said her marriage would only end in widowhood, never divorce.

So was she angry enough now to kill him?

Sylvara sneered. “Kill you? You’re the Empire Light, the shield of Empire, the nation’s idol. And who am I?

“I’m just someone with no power, no influence, without the strength to truss a chicken. Even if I wanted to kill you, would you willingly let me?”

Agares’s dark eyes flickered as he was about to speak.

Sylvara continued, “You’re not anyone to me. Why would I make an enemy of the entire Troya Empire for you? I just have a question I want to ask you!”

With a forceful squeeze of his hand, Agares broke the Smokewillow strangling his neck. He slowly walked

up to Sylvara, his eyes lowered as he looked at her. “What question? Speak.”

Sylvara flicked her hand, withdrawing the remaining Smokewillow. She pointed back at Callam with her other hand, her eyes full of suppressed fury as she looked at Agares. “He just said that after my marriage ends, he wants me to consider him first. He’s your subordinate. Tell me, is he worth entrusting my life to? You tell me. I’ll listen to you.”

“Kid!” Blake was as anxious as an ant on a hot griddle, releasing Auren and quickly coming to Sylvara’s side. “You can’t let someone else decide your life, not even Agares. Listen to me, come with me to catch rabbits. You haven’t seen a Level 10 exotic beast yet, have you? I will catch one for you to play with, okay?”

This was a trick question.

If Agares said Callam was worth entrusting her life to, the divorce would happen whether she wanted it or

not.

If he said no, he’d have to swallow his words about wanting a divorce.

Blake hoped Agares would say no and abandon the idea of divorce.

But she was also terrified Agares would say Callam was trustworthy. If that happened, the divorce was set in stone, and her precious sweetheart would become someone else’s wife.

No way!

Absolutely not!

Sylvara’s lips curved into a mocking smile. “Daddy, you’ve been here the whole time. You heard everything His Highness said.

“He said he wanted to dissolve his marriage with his wife. The way he couldn’t wait made it seem like his wife was a burden, something shameful, not worthy of him.”
