Chapter 119

“Then I guess you won’t eat,” was his retort as Alise left. don’t really care what your sleep schedule is; either you’ll be awake to eat or go hungry I’m sure you’ll figure it out.” He left before Beatrice had a chance to say anything sassy. Se rude.
Well this was going to be fun. Locked in a room with not much to do other than read whatever was on the bookshelf Why were they under the impression she enjoyed reading, anyway? Being read to was more her thing, thank you very much. Sitting still for hours on end was liable to drive Beatrice insane, so this setup was not going to be a pleasant one for the long term.
Moving to the window, she tested to see if it would open. Surprisingly, it did, but only twenty centimeters or so; definitely not enough to squeeze through
since the window was three storeys above ground Becoming at least not until she’d exhausted all over avenues of escape Not that she would have tried a pancake had still not quite gotten onto her bucket list. Yet.
What was suppose to happen now, she wondered absently. If her life was confined to this single room, minus an hour a day, what were they expecting of her? It definitely wasn’t going to get Beatrice to change her mind about everything, that much was certain.
So what was the point? Why bother? What did it matter if she was here or somewhere else, when all she was allowed to do was stay in this room? Why not let her free to do whatever, wherever? It didn’t make sense.
Was it because she was a weakness to Hendricks and keeping her close was really about protecting himself? Now that she could see. She was also carrying the full burden of the mate bond, so if something did happen would it even affect Fuckface?
Beatrice let out an annoyed grunt as she crouched by the window, resting her hands on the sill to cushion her chin. There was a light breeze that made its way through the opening, bringing with it the smells of the outside world. Vegetation from trees to flowers and everything in between – and people and food and… there were too many different scents assaulting her nose, to the point she was forced to close the window after only a few minutes.
It worried her, how much she was changing because of this damn mate bond. Not only was she healing faster than a normal human, her sense of smell was now better than it’d ever been. What else was going to change? Would she, eventually, be able to shift into a wolf…?
No… that seemed unlikely. She’d been told that werewolves had both a human and wolf soul shoved together. Beatrice only had a human soul, which meant there would be no wolf to shift into.
Was that what they were waiting for? To see if she would eventually go all furry and howl at the moon? Oh god, what if she did? What then? Would it change her mind about Hendricks?
Too many questions and not enough answers made Beatrice regret spending any time op the topic. All it did was give her a boat load of angiot couldn’t afford to let anything stop her from… from…

Did she really expect to escape? Things were different this time. There was no vampire in the dungeon, no chance of the wolves wonderes Was waiting the only thing she could do? Should she wait for someone to show up and save her?
No. She was no damsel and refused to sit back doing nothing. Where was all the anger she’d been harbouring the disgust and rage that of water he me during that first stay at the Bluemoon pack house?
And what did it matter if she behaved or not? She wasn’t here to make friends, she didn’t even like any of the wolves she’d met so far Why not play mesk and subservient to better stab them in the back later?
