Contrary to what Benedict had thought, Beatrice hadn i fallen asleep. She’d simply closed her eyes been a tiny bit loopy from the drugs in her system, she still heard every word of the conversation between the two wires as they stand wet outside the door. Their voices had been low but she still made out every word.
None of it made sense at the time but, later on, when the good drugs had begun to wear off, than changed Sort of Beatrice didn’t know exactly what that d been discussing, only that it was about what had happened and that Alpha Hendricks had somehow “aused it.
Yeah, it still didn’t make any more sense now that she was coming down from the high.
Shouldn’t the mate bond prevent Fuckface from intentionally hurting her? Or, had Beatrice beer, led astray like with the true name thing. There was un much she still didn’t know or understand about wolves and, without anyone trustworthy to ask, mhances were she would only get answers in the form of f truths, so there was no point in asking.
What bothered her the most was what Fuckface had done. He hadn’t been anywhere in the room when it’d happened, so… what gives? Was there some ther side to the mate bond that…
Hold on a second. Avery had said something during their conversation the other day. Whenever something was about to happen between Beatrice and Riaghaire, she was struck with Hendricks’ side of the mate bond – in the form of nausea and vomiting. What if… he’d done something with someone’ possible she’d gotten hit by her side of the mate bond?
Had Hendricks… cheated on her?
It was almost laughable for two very important reasons. First; he was her fated mate and that wasn’t supposed to be possible, if she understood what
everyone had been telling her since day one. Secondly, you can’t cheat on someone who wants nothing to do with you.
So why did it feel like her heart was being torn apart?
Fucking mate bond bullshit.
The fact he was willing to sleep around because it might kill Beatrice left her worried. Of all the ways to take a life, sex was past unfast w He’d literally be getting pleasure while doing it. If she tried to do the same, all she’d get would be projectile vomiting. Het own poeti
because she refused to mark Hendricks.
If she did mark him then she could technically pay him back for the pain he’d inflicted on her none of her problems. Revenge was pointless if it made things a million times worse.

What could she do? There was even less of a chance she’d let anything happen between the two of them now that she probably cheated on her with intent to kill or hoped it would lead to it. What she did know was the mate bool was sacrosafet and he’d technically violaced it. That was heavily frowned upon, which was only further proven when Tweedledick chewed Fuckface out for shitting all over it. Even though she was a total bitch. Hurray for small favours.
Hendricks crossing that line meant something but Beatrice wasn’t quite sure how to use that to her advantage. Could the use it to force him into breaking the bond between them? Or would he still stand firm that he would never allow that to happen?
Also, what was that comment about a second chance? A second chance at what, exactly? Maybe there was something in those words that could help her t
of this shit show of a situation.
Now the problem was figuring out who she could ask.
Definitely not any of the wolves she’d dealt with on a regular basis; they were far too wary of her to let anything she could use against them sip. The really should have played dumb or meek or… literally anything other than an uncooperative bitch. It would have made things far easier.
Oh well. Too little, too late to worry about that right now.
There was a light knock at the door before Doctor Silverthorn entered. The she-wolf smiled, warmly upon seeing Beatrice awake and alert. “How are you
feeling?”
“I’ve been better,” Beatrice replied after taking a couple of seconds to take stock of her aching body.
“I can believe that,” the doctor chuckled as she pulled up a stool. “I want to see how tender you’re feeling, alright?”
