Chapter 241-
Why Is Dating So Complicated?
A Benedict Story
BENEDICT
Dating wasn’t a normal wolf custom. Mated pairs went on dates, yes, bukit wasn’t for the purpose of checking their compatibility or whatever. It was to some one-on-one alone time specifically catered to them. That meant Benedict was at a loss on where to take Claire on one. He didn’t actually know he outside of the basics he’d gleaned through listening to conversations and chatting with her the one time outside the pack cages. Would she prefer a mo active date? Casual? Fancy? With food? No food? Somewhere public? Somewhere secluded?
The one person he could think to ask was Beatrice and he flatly refused to bother her with this dilemma. If anything, he avoided her as much as possibl was not taking any chances on her turning around and talking bad about him to Claire. Did that make him a coward? One hundred percent. And he did r care in the least if it meant his mate might eventually accept him and the bond.
After Claire left the pack barbecue, Benedict started doing research on how humans date and what that entailed only to find himself lost amongst the thousands of different possible ideas. Everything depended on the person you wanted to date, of which he knew little.
Great. Just great.
To his credit, Benedict wasted no time in texting her that evening, asking what days and times worked best for her schedule. Since she worked at
Kaleidoscope most nights – and well into the morning – it meant whatever he decided for the date would need to work around that and her sleep schedu
The last thing he wanted was to plan something that forced Claire to wake up early.
Once he had the information he needed, it was then time to make the choice in what they would be doing.
From his research – if an hour spent surfing the internet could count as research dinner and a movie was a go-to staple among dating humans. It was simple and hard to screw up; what could go wrong? All he had to do was choose a restaurant that had a decent menu and a theatre showing afferent gene of movies starting around the same time – that meant she could pick which one best suited her taste and they could go watch it together
The perfect plan; the perfect date. Maybe this wasn’t so hard after all.
Which was how he found himself on Claire’s door step early one evening, tugging at the collar of his shirt as he waited is her to sadestove the sh restaurant he’d chosen meant they’d needed to look nice not really his thing, but it would give him the opportunity to see that the wilder could he not? but he hadn’t considered it meant he, too, would need to look the part Benediol was more of a searts and shirt stuff felt awkward. However, if it meant impressing his mate then he would gladly dress fancy for the rest of his life
Classe answered the door and it took Benedict a moment to find lus tongue As her mate he might be heard but to have t words, even more so when all dressed up

Chairs used and walked back into her home before stopping and glancing back at him. “Are you going to stand out there or come inside
Not needing to be told twice, Benedict followed her inside, carefully closing the door before giving the place a quick look.

It was a decent sized place; a bit big for a single person but just right for a couple. When Beatrice lived there – and the vampire – the place must have felt crowded. Needless to say, he was secretly very happy the human had found a place of her own and moved out a few weeks prior. The vampire followed, of course, meaning the place was back to being just Chase’s.
due to shame and gurit. He would need to face them eventually but he There would be no awkward run ins with the two people he least wanted to see – wanted to be in a more stable position with his new pack before taking that challenge; he also felt it would be wise to give the human lots of space until then, so she could process and heal without him there as a constant reminder of what Hendricks had done – tried to do.
Claire came out of the kitchen with a large glass with a thumbs worth of water inside. She promptly dropped the flowers into her makeshift vase before setting them on the coffee table. “There. We can head out now.”
A small part of Benedict wanted to cancel the entire date and ask if they could hang out here, at her place, and just… exist. Maybe watch some awful show they could trash talk.
No. He steeled himself with the reminder that he needed to do this right. Claire had specifically stated they needed to date and get to know one another before deciding whether to accept him or not; that meant not cancelling anything just so he would be more comfortable. This was for her, not hum.
Benedict led the way to his car, where he held open the passenger door until she slid inside. After closing it, he took a calming breath as he walked to the Ariver’s side and got behind the wheel.
Claire watched as he buckled his seatbelt and started the car. When he glanced her way and caught her looking, she smiled and said, “You look good onight.”
