“Yeah, cause I know how the debt works. He won’t harm you if it can be helped, no matter the situation. Unless it’s to save you, I guess.”

Chapter 59
“Blot that it’s any of my business, but, uh why do you have bloud on
“For the vampires,” she replied, giving Beatrice a look that said ‘how is that not obvious?
“Okay, new question. Uh.. how do you have blood on tap?”
Claire rolled her eyes. “Don’t be weird about it. All the blood is from donations. Some patrons will donate a pint or two for free drinks, so we’ve pret bunch of different kinds.”
Beatrice closed her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose. People were donating their blood for free drinks. This was a new low for alcoholis “Isn’t that, I don’t know, bad for them? To drink after giving blood?”
“I mean, if it’s a human, probably, but most of the people who come here aren’t. You try telling a troll it can’t drink; I dare you”

“How have you never told me any of this before?” Beatrice demanded, smacking the bar top with the palm of her hand. It was frustrating, and a conte insulting, that her best friend hadn’t trusted her with this information.
“There’s a rule,” the blond shrugged a second time. “Kind of like that fight club one. You don’t talk about Others, expecially not to human know they exist.”
“But I’d have known if you’d told me.”
“And then what, Bea? What would that have changed for you?”
Beatrice besitated, then grimaced “Okay, fine I get the why, but it doesn’t stop me frog beg uyed with you right
Rioghaire was watching the exchange in silence, his fingers playing over the roof his cup
