Chapter 63
+ Bleed You Twice
RIAGHAIRE
Riaghaire was amused at how adept his greine was at leading the conversation exactly where she wanted it to go. The Alpha hadn’t looked overly when he’d realized it, but what could he do?
The few times the vampire had intervened were only to keep the wolf at bay. There was no need to insert himself in the verbal back and forth.
One thing that did bother him was that he couldn’t tell what his human was feeling anymore. Not only did the protective spells on the bar damper he possessed as a vampire, the perfume she wore was able to mask the smell of her emotions. This meant he now had to rely on her fans language, and tone of voice.
On the other hand, it meant the beast was in much the same position.
Like vampires, wolves were able to discern emotions through scent, though the former were far more adept at doing so.
“I don’t care if he’ll be agreeable on the matter or not,” Beatrice told the beast named Donovan, sounding aggravated. “I wasn’t agreeable on being and he did it anyway, so what makes you think I’ll let him have a say in this?”
“He has a say because he needs to break his side of the mate bond, just like you need to break yours.”
She fell silent for a moment, her brows creased. “What if the bond is still incomplete?”
The beast was shaking his head before she finished speaking. “Even before either are marked, both need to sever the ties that bind them.”
“Seriously? What kind of sadistic goddess do you people worship?”
Riaghaire was already between them when Donovan stood up for the second time, eyes gold. “Sit down,” the vampire hissed.
“No one speaks ill of the Moon Goddess,” the wolf snapped.
“Your Moon Goddess is the reason I was basically raped by a werewolf,” his gréine explained to the beast, her voice sounding distant as she retired to seat. She took a drink of the blue liquid she seemed to enjoy, carefully placing the glass back on the bar top before speaking again. “I will ever one allegiance to any deity responsible for that sort of thing.”
“That’s not how it’s meant to work,” the wolf tried to explain, but it was Beatrice’s turn to shake her head.
“It doesn’t matter how it’s meant to work, because that’s not how it worked for me Your Moon Goddess conglobed what happened simply be making human some werewolf’s fated mate.”
“Wolf.”
She frowned. “Huh?”
“We call ourselves wolves. Werewolf is a human term, and it’s meant as an insult We are wolves
that’s your chear
but
She rolled her eyes. “Whatever. I still stand by what I said You can worship and pay respect to your Moon Goddess all you want sbe’s the reason I’m now running from the guy who planned on forcing me through some ceremony and the consummation of this fucking bond. Can you really fault me for my…” Beatrice paused, as if to find a different word than she’d first wanted to use.
