Their body collapsed on the floor with a wet thunk as Riaghaire took a step back Turning his head just a little, he spat out the chunk of flesh he’d torn from them. His right arm up to his elbow was covered in blood; blood that dripped off the tips of his fingers as he let his arm fall to his side.

Beatrice covered her mouth with both hands as she tried to stay quiet. She’d knowfr what he was capable of doing but seeing it first hand was… was…

From somewhere outside came a roar so loud the bottles on the shelves, and even those in the boxes where she was hiding, clinked against one another.

When the door was flung opened for a second time it was because it’d been torn from its hinges. The man now holding said door grinned maniacally before pitching it at Riaghaire.

The vampire reacted so fast Beatrice wasn’t even sure how it happened, but one second a door was flying in the air, and the next it was bent in half, embedded in the nearby wall. It looked like Riaghaire had casually smacked it aside. As if it were a fly.

Vampires were fucking terrifying.

The headache she’d been dealing with all day suddenly surged, causing Beatrice to cry out as she grabbed her head. She’d never experienced a migraine before but this had to be what was happening. The pain pulsed, radiating from the back of her skull all the way to the front. She could even feel it in her

eyes and sinus cavity.

I’m coming.

Beatrice couldn’t figure out where those two words had come from but they’d suddenly materialized in her mind, endlessly repeating themself. It only added to the pressure against the inside of her skull.

“Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP!,” she screamed, fingers digging into her scalp.

A surge of emotions that weren’t her own swept through her, as if in an attempt to calm the pounding of her head and heart, assuring her that she had nothing to fear. A sense of deep love enveloped her, something she knew was not her own, and that’s all she needed to realize what was happening.

Get OUT, she mentally shouted as she closed her eyes, doing everything she could to gather up the alien presence in her mind and shove it back into its corner. Alphass Fucking Hendricks Goddamn Bluemoon was at it again and this time he’d played the long game. “I will… I will…,” Beatrice muttered, nagie to come up with a retort as she struggled to think through the pounding pain.

When she finally had things under control in her own head, Beatrice opened her eyes to see Riaghaire taking on a huge wolf. Its ful was dark grey, which only made its gold eyes all the brighter,
