Chapter 91
Bleed You Twice
RIAGHAIRE
Riaghaire watched his gréine as she slept.
She always began with her back to him, only to roll over within the first half hour to press her face against his leg. Sometimes she’d even used it as a pillow. Those times were ones he greatly enjoyed.
The conversation they’d had replayed in his mind. He’d never thought that she would be questioning things the way she was made his intentions clear, but he couldn’t deny she’d made some valid points.
he’d been certain he had
Now that she was aware of his feelings, Riąghaire was relieved to learn she reciprocated them, though not without misgivings on the ‘why’. It confused him, why she felt the need to understand the source of how she felt but, if that’s what she required before allowing things to progress between them, then so be it. They would first need to sever the mate bond before anything happened, anyway.
The vampire let out a small sigh as he closed the book he’d been reading. At least he could sit next to her while she slept without the mate bond causing an issue.
A thought struck him just then and he allowed his mouth to curve upwards as he glanced at his gréine once more. While she slept, he spent most of his time reading, therefore sitting up had been his go-to position, but if he were to attempt to rest…
It’s not as if they would be left vulnerable. The protections Claire had on her home weren’t as complex or intricate as those at Kaleidoscope, but that didn’t mean they were any less powerful. With her magic preventing anyone not invited from entering, it meant he and his gréine were as safe as they could be. He could relax. He could… rest, if he so chose.
Today, he chose to do that.
It took him a moment to decide how best to lay down. He knew that, eventually, his gréine would roll over but, until then… he could hold her, couldn’t he?
Riaghaire lay on his side, draping his arm over Beatrice’s waist for a moment to see if she would wake. When she didn’t, he pulled himself close, untul has body was flush with hers. There were sheets between them but he could still feel her body heat through the thin layers.
Closing his eyes, he buried his face in her hair until the back of her neck was but a whisper away from his nose. He tightened his hold, causing her type and a small hum that left him smiling. It had been so long since he’d felt such comfort and peace.
He gréine had even showered before bed, meaning Riaghaire was able to enjoy her natural scent. He let out a content sigh and all wed hoc meal to
