< Blunt Talk-2
So, no, until I can trust you aren’t going to shoot me in the face or the heart the minute my guard is down, you don’t get a weapon.”
“Mom won’t shoot you, Dad.”
“You sure? She’s pretty angry with me.” Kiefer buckled his seatbelt and motioned for Genesis to do the same.
“Because you didn’t keep her safe,” Egan shrugged. “Keep her safe and she won’t be mad.”
“It’s not this simple, Egan. My failure to keep your mom safe means Roan died. Mom is pretty pissed off about it.”
Genesis wondered when Kiefer started talking to Egan the way he was. She knew she talked to Egan pretty bluntly, but this seemed next level.
Egan nodded, “I guess. I don’t think she’d shoot you though. She doesn’t want my dad to die, do you mom?” Egan looked at her to confirm his thoughts.
“Nope. I don’t want him to die.”
“Yet, last night when you were sleeping Egan, she straight out said she hoped I would die so she wouldn’t have to share you with me.”
“Kiefer!” she suddenly wished she did have a gun on her. She was ready to shoot him in the balls for saying such things to Egan.
“Mom! Not nice. You can’t say things like that to my dad. You should say you’re sorry.”
“It really hurt my feelings.” Kiefer played it up. “I was awake all-night thinking of ways to make your mom not hate me and not wish I was dead. Do you have any ideas, Egan?”
“Uncle Tadgh gave her kisses. I think she likes it. You could give her kisses too.”
“Most ladies only have one partner or boyfriend or husband. Your mom has two. How do you feel about us having a different family than other people?” Kiefer asked Egan changing the subject while he could away from guns and hatred. “Me and Tadgh both love your mom very much. Does it bother you?”
“Everybody loves my mom.”
He whispered in her ear, “I’m finally thinking clearly. In the past I was thinking of what I wanted without regard for anyone else. I thought since I was the boss, I didn’t have to give a shit about qther people’s wants and needs. Now I realize a good pss, puts the needs of his family first. You have needs, Genesis. Tadgh has needs. I have needs. I miss my brother and the close relationship we shared. I miss you and the intimacy we shared. It was greed and selfishness which forced me to be a twat. I want to give you everything you need. You need more than me. I can’t be there all the time, and you need more than a man who is only around half times. You were lonely, my love. I will be around more. I promise but, in the times, I cannot be, Tadgh will be there as well.” He put his hand on her belly, “and if it results in a baby for you and Tadgh, I’ll be the best uncle you’ve ever seen. It’ll be like Sister Wives but better.”
“You’ve lost the plot.”
“No. I’ve finally found my way,” Kiefer stared into her eyes. “I finally found my way back to you and I’m learning from my mistakes. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you, my love.”
“You want to share me?”
“No!” he gave a laugh. “Sharing implies we’re dividing you up, a ghrá. Nothing could be further from the truth. We’re not splitting you up, Genesis. We’re not sharing you, we’re giving you us. We’re going to give you a life you never imagined you could have.”
“What if it’s not what I want?”
Higlow laugh made her toes curl, whether it was frustation another feeling she didn’t want to name she wasn’t sure. His next words though had her questioning her sanity and her resolve.
“You keep telling yourself this, Genesis but there was a reason you were searching for me today while his lips were on you. You simply need to figure out what it was.”
