Chapter 22 The Comeback
He glanced at the phone in Isabella’s hand.
Finished
When he first saw her using it, he had just assumed the butler had already taken care of everything for her.
He never expected they hadn’t even bothered to get her a backpack.
He had thought Isabella had simply forgotten to bring one.
Isaac had assumed things like that would’ve been handled without anyone having to ask.
But after a moment, he realized that since Isabella had only just come back to the Powell family, not everything was fully set up for her yet.
If no one gave the order, no one would’ve gone out of their way to prepare things for her.
As that thought sank in, his expression turned awkward again.
Isabella’s face stayed calm.
She couldn’t be bothered to engage with him any further.
“Whatever. I’m not picky.”
She was only here to kill time anyway.
After Isabella spoke, Isaac pulled out his own phone and carefully picked out the latest backpack for her.
At elite schools, falling behind on clothes or accessories could easily get you mocked or cause problems.
Having already messed up once, Isaac wasn’t about to make another mistake.
He even looked into what else Isabella might need–clothes, daily essentials, that sort of thing. Noticing she preferred simple, clean styles, he passed her preferences on to the family’s personal designer to have outfits custom–made for her.
Isabella couldn’t just keep wearing off–the–rack clothes with the tags still on; that might also get people
talking.
While Isaac was frowning intently over Isabella’s wardrobe and necessities, Isabella was already leaning against a wall on campus, scrolling through her phone out of boredom.
Since there were still some enrollment steps to finish and the driver hadn’t come back with her backpack yet, Isabella took the chance to log into her brokerage account.
As soon as she opened it, she saw her portfolio skyrocketing.
It was like she could practically hear the sound of money stacking up.
The numbers in her account were climbing fast.

Chapter 22 The Comeback
Just half an hour earlier, her account had been on the verge of getting wiped out.
Finished
Isabella raised an eyebrow slightly and scrolled up through her account history. The gains, marked in bright green, had stopped at 9:40.
Before that, her account had been drowning in red.
As soon as the market opened, a flood of sell orders for call options and stocks had sent her account plunging.
Margin calls had popped up one after another.
A portion of the funds Isabella had set aside kicked in automatically, adding capital just as her account was teetering on the edge of liquidation. While Hanks Group’s stock was tanking, those funds kept buying up. the cheapest shares available.
Meanwhile, other vulture investors were circling, waiting for her to get liquidated so they could feast on the remains of her sizable capital.
But at 9:40, Hanks Group dropped a positive announcement.
They disclosed that the crisis had been handled, stressing that the person who stole the company’s confidential data had been caught. Not only that, but all of Hanks Group’s technical information had been completely overhauled.
They had used the crisis to pull off a major upgrade of their industrial assets.
At the same time, they launched a large–scale share buyback, continuously buying back Hanks Group’s falling shares with no set limit.
The whole stock market went into chaos.
The people who had been celebrating early, thinking they’d scored easy money off Hanks Group’s collapse, were now in shock.
Hanks Group’s stock started climbing at lightning speed.
The more people had shorted the stock earlier, the worse off they were now.
A short squeeze was in full swing, with panic spreading among everyone who had bet against it.
Every short seller in the market was scrambling to buy back the call options Isabella held.
