Chapter 24 A Fair Price
“Yes.”
A group of elite professionals immediately started scrambling to come up with ideas.

Among them, even the lowest earners were pulling in seven–figure salaries. If they got kicked out of Powell Group now, finding another job wouldn’t be easy.
Besides, the situation at Powell Group wasn’t completely hopeless yet.
“Mr. Powell, right now the only option is to buy enough shares as soon as possible to cover the losses. Otherwise, once the losses spiral, our accounts will get liquidated.”
Since Hanks Group’s stock kept climbing, every minute they delayed meant even more staggering losses.
So, before it was too late, they had to buy back all the shares they had shorted to offset their earlier losses.
Otherwise, the stock’s relentless rise would drag them straight to the bottom.
That was the price of a failed short sale.
“In the market yesterday, that Vex picked up a huge chunk of Hanks Group call options. We could ask her to sell us enough of those options first, to avoid taking the biggest hit.”
Hanks Group’s stock was still going up.
At this point, whoever got their hands on enough Hanks Group call options first would be able to cover their short positions with relatively smaller losses.
So, this elite trader suggested, “We should reach out to her first.”
Right now, Hanks Group call options were flying off the shelves.
Especially after Hanks Group’s stock started rising, tons of short sellers needed to buy enough shares to fill the gaps in their shorted accounts.
But by then, most of the Hanks Group call options on the market had already been snapped up by
Isabella.
So, if they wanted to buy Hanks Group shares at a relatively low price, they’d have to buy Isabella’s Hanks Group call options at a premium.
With that in mind, Powell Group’s trading desk reached out to Isabella, asking her to sell them some Hanks Group call options. They offered extremely favorable terms and hinted that the conditions were still open to negotiation,
“The terms are pretty generous.”
Isabella let out a soft laugh as she read the urgent message from Powell Group’s trading desk.
“Three hundred times the price.”

Isabella glanced at how Hanks Group’s stock was climbing and did a quick estimate of the call options‘ value.
By the time the price hit this level, it would be about the right moment to sell.
After all, if it climbed any higher, these guys might just take their chances and buy Hanks Group shares directly.
Besides, overnight, Isabella hadn’t actually managed to scoop up all the Hanks Group call options on the market.
If she had, there was no way she’d offer such a low price—she’d be asking for at least five hundred times the price.
Isabella typed her terms and the number into the message box and sent it to Powell Group’s trading desk
account.
When they got the message, they agreed immediately.
Soon after, huge sums of money started pouring into Isabella’s account.
She lifted the restrictions on Hanks Group call options and began selling them off in batches.
Powell Group paid a massive price but finally managed to cover the shortfall in their short–selling accounts just before the market closed.
That day, aside from Isabella, only Hanks Group came out on top.
They had bought back their own shares heavily, snapping up a huge volume while short sellers were frantically dumping stocks, then drove the price straight up.
With the favorable announcement released, they forced everyone who had shorted Hanks Group to buy back their shares at high prices.
In that back–and–forth, they absorbed nearly half of the market’s short–selling funds.
The remaining funds flowed into Isabella’s account.

With just thirty million dollars in capital, she had leveraged nearly a hundred million, and by the closing bell, her earnings had hit an astonishing two billion.
