Chapter 242 The Flawed Demo Begins
“Wishing you success.”
He tossed every one of Audrey’s earlier jabs right back at her.
Audrey, Adrian, and the rest wore grim expressions.
Adrian and Marcus had initially thought Kevin showed up because of Jeremy.
But as it turned out, Jeremy’s presence had cost them any chance with Kevin.
After all, Jeremy and Kevin operated on entirely different levels.
Kevin represented validation from the highest levels of government.
Since Powell Group was a home–grown company, securing that kind of recognition from the top meant future policy support and a full suite of developmental safeguards.
Jeremy was a whole other story.
Not only had he failed to bring any additional advantages to their R&D efforts, his licensing terms had essentially tied their hands.
That realization stung–badly.
Adrian, Marcus, and the others couldn’t help wondering–if they hadn’t gone along with Audrey’s plan an hadn’t brought Jeremy on board, would that lucky break have landed in their laps today?
Deep down they knew it was unrealistic, but the what–if kept gnawing at them.
As they stood there lost in thought, Audrey shot them a sharp look and muttered through gritted teeth, “Enough. Stop overthinking it.

“And then your whole cash–grab scheme would be out in the open.
“You know exactly how messy and humiliating that would get.”
Her words snapped Adrian and Marcus back to reality, pulling them out of that spiral of regret and wishful thinking.
“You’re right, Adrian forced out between clenched teeth.
“Once our product takes off, they’ll have no choice but to come take a look. Getting there first doesn’t

“Carter Group’s product isn’t going to win that man over anyway.”
Adrian thought of the corrupted code they’d slipped into Carter Group’s system.
With that flaw buried in the software, no matter how smug Carter Group acted now, their downfall would be all the more embarrassing later.
The idea lifted his spirits almost immediately.
Meanwhile, Kevin, Steven, and their team had already entered Carter Group’s exhibition space and were
ded to the VIP section.
Noticing Isabella seated a short distance away, Kevin smiled warmly. “So this is the young lady from the Carter family, I take it?”
He made no mention of the Powells–Kevin knew how to read a room. Steven had hinted the situation was complicated, and with Powell Group and Carter Group going head–to–head, it felt right to refer to her simply as part of the Carters.
