Chapter 243 Jeremy’s Blunder
Wow, that kid Noah–he’d gone and pulled off something huge without even mentioning it first.
Seemed like those tutoring fees had really paid off in a big way.
This was the kind of advantage you simply couldn’t buy.
Isabella’s face brightened into a smile, and she thanked Steven with such genuine warmth that she insta came across as incredibly likable.
Steven chuckled warmly and replied, “Don’t praise him too much–I know exactly what he’s like.
“Ethan calls me every single day to complain about him. The kid’s run off more tutors than I can count.
“You have no idea–even one of Mr. Parker’s grad students tried teaching him once, and showed up at Kevin’s office the next day practically in tears, saying he’d rather take a research post out in the desert tha spend another day with Noah.”
He shook his head as he spoke. “If Noah ever took over security here, I’d bet half the campus would volunteer to transfer to the desert outpost.
“He’s basically a walking disaster.”
When Steven said that, Kevin laughed too. “Then isn’t he wasted here? Send him over! Roland would be thrilled.”
Roland headed up HR at the desert research facility.
The group kept chatting and laughing, the mood relaxed and cheerful.
Meanwhile, Hannah was watching from the shadows on the other side, her jaw clenched so tight it could’ve cracked.
She’d slipped into the main hall earlier, staying out of sight, hoping to catch Isabella and the others embarrassing themselves.
But instead, Kevin had gone straight to the Carter exhibit and was having what looked like a great time with Isabella and her team.
Who did Isabella think she was?
Just some girl from the sticks who’d stumbled into the city. Without the Carter name and the Wayne family ‘backing her, she’d never even get a minute with someone like Kevin.
Hannah watched, her eyes practically burning with envy
She felt like all the attention Isabella was getting should have been hers.
She should’ve been the one everyone was fawning over.
She had more polish, more grace, more cultured conversation than Isabella–she was the Powells‘ carefully
Why should she lose out to some backcountry nobody‘

Hannah was close to losing it.
She’d twisted the sleeve of her blouse so hard the fabric was nearly torn.
But then, she let out a slow breath and forced herself to relax.
It was fine. No matter how sinug and proud Isabella and the Carter group acted now, once Powell Group succeeded later, their expressions would be priceless.
So what if Kevin liked them?
With remy backing their project, Powell Group’s product was definitely not going to lose to whatever

Group made its name, she’d still be the one and only daughter of the Powell family.
la would remain that nobody from the countryside–thrown out and unwanted.
at thought, Hannah lifted her chin and walked off with a prideful stride.
on the other side, Isaac was watching the scene too–watching the bright, effortless smile on Isabella
and a dull ache spread through his chest.
could’ve had that smile directed at him once.
But that was alright. Just being able to watch his little sister from a distance was enough.
With that, he turned and walked away as well.
Back at the Powell Group exhibit, Adrian and Marcus were still a little light–headed and dazed after returning.
Adrian steadied himself, then said coolly, “Get our product demo started–now.
“I want everyone to see that whatever Carter Group has is trash compared to ours.”
He couldn’t wait to show the whole room just how impressive Powell Group’s product was.
And how completely worthless Carter’s was by comparison.
